Literally translating the way the Japanese language uses quotation brackets makes everything sound sarcastic in English.

108. Speed Racer (2008)
Easily one of the most unique and important films. A complete, uncompromising vision brought to life in glorious hyper-vibrant colour.
Here’s a high-res scan of a TV Guide ad for The Simpsons season 2 episode, “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?".
it's remarkable the way this single shot totally rehabilitated Aerith's image after like two straight decades of her being relegated to "Girl who stands in a void going 🙏" in every other piece of FF7 material

one of my life career goals was to work on audio for toys. believe it or not i originally didn’t aspire to be a game composer as much as i wanted to just mess around with soundchips.

a circuit board with a d-shell connector with only 3 sockets. there's a bit of plastic around it marked HP, so presumably it is from some test equipment.
found a DE-3 in the wild, folks
All I'm asking for out of this is ONE "Excuse me, Princess!" and they can do whatever else they want.
Yeah.
You can tell it was a very ambitious plot at some point.
But it's pretty clear why they didn't commit to it.
Oh, and about Hana's backstory, I don't know all the details, but if you pay attention early on, you can infer that whatever bullying she went through was bad enough that her family had to move.
And that changes a lot because it means that the real plot of Hugtto is Hagumi traveling back in time to create an alternate timeline where her mother lived.
Which plays into the themes of the show a LOT better.
Second, Hana in that timeline saved the world, but it was a harsh battle.
And when Hagumi was born... Hana didn't survive the childbirth.
So Hagumi grew up without a mother, which does put a lot of her actions into perspective. Like, she didn't find Hana at random, she was looking for her.
Okay, there are two main details that I think really improve the way the later half of the show plays out if you know:
First, Hugtan, or rather Hagumi/Cure Tomorrow, comes from an alternate timeline where Hana was the sole Precure, meaning she never befriended Saaya or Homare.
I don't know the whole deal, I've avoided looking into some details because of reasons, but there's some nuggets that I do know.
Don't read further if you don't want to know.
There are. A lot of thoughts surrounding this season.
But it will not surprise you that a lot of the backstory of the show was thrown out or reworked halfway through, the most obvious case being Hana's past.
All I'll say is that the ending works a lot better once you add those pieces back in.
Hugtto really is High Highs and Low Lows: The show.
My favorite part of this scene is that the framing keeps implying Homare is the dad.
Pragmata's writing is extremely sappy but in a nice way. The context of it being a dad game is that it approaches being a dad as 'what if a dad in a dad game was patient, kind and encouraging of their child" which is what you want all dads to be yet weirdly most dad games are about disputes. Hm.
A winged white robot flies through the sky. Diagonal caption: "Culprit laughs: I'm a fallen angel!"
Anyway the previous episode was about a beautiful robotboy with angelic wings and tit missiles who cries about being born to a fate of destruction. Deviantart as hell
