I wanted to say that to our Labour candidate. But I missed them so we just got a leaflet through the door. Said leaflet tries to implore people to think of their local Labour councillor as separate from whatever they think of the government. Let’s see how that goes for them

I remember someone posting on Twitter ~late 2020 about how much she missed going out to clubs and all the reply guys were yelling at her that she wanted everyone to die of Covid. Reactions on this have always been wild (I also hated lockdown)
Hello! I tore through Starve Acre by Andrew Michael Hurley the past couple of days, great book. Now starting on something a little lighter, Bone Horn by Prudence Bussey-Chamberlain
By the time we see the Code of Practice, it will be too late to make sure it's trans inclusive. We have very little time. Reach out to your MP now 👇
No birds are evolved from ptetanodons though, these guys all died out 😢
It is the case that developers say they will built the amenities after the homes are built and then don’t, eg www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-engl...
Is that better than them buying a home with the promise that a new GP will be built nearby soon, and then it’s never built?
I think you’re referring to the 2 child benefit cap. Labour campaigned on keeping it during the election but also on reducing child poverty. They have now removed it and are touting it as one of their successes
A thatched roof with 2 chimney pots. Atop the roof, instead of the usual duck or pheasant made of thatch, there stands a majestic T-rex
Went for a walk and a pint and spotted the best example of free will I've ever seen
Good morning! I am reading and really enjoying Theory of Bastards by Audrey Schulman
Almost every adult in this instance is unvaccinated for meningitis b, it only became a routine vaccine for babies in 2015. They started a targeted vaccination programme for students at the university this week after the outbreak
My excellent colleague @katiedd.bsky.social has just published this remarkable investigation into rampant book banning in a Greater Manchester secondary school library.
193 books including The Da Vinci Code, Twilight, White Teeth and 1984 Graphic Novel

see?
here's the thing. A lot of people are like, the earth is fucked, it's beyond salvation, it's hit the tipping point, but time and time again we see that if we just fucking fixed the problem, it rebounds so incredibly fast. Imagine what could be done if people actually cared
Photographs of a dinosaur-looking bird, the shoebill, and popstar Sabrina Carpenter, overlaid with a height comparison showing both are 152 cm, with visual graphics saying the magazine's name SSWAGGER and some Chinese characters
Photographs of a shoebill and popstar Sabrina Carpenter overlaid with a height comparison showing that, yes indeed, both are just 152 cm
I can't even begin to describe this photograph. I think that might be Taylor Swift on a night out with Sabrina Carpenter. But Sabrina is photoshopped to have a shoebill face and talons, with wing-tips coming out her coat but still Sabrina's hair
Just incredible shoebill awareness-raising from this Hong Kong teens' magazine
Her surname cannot literally be Money-Coutts lol
In a competitive field where it is hard to stand out, to truly shine for national transphobia, the UK and NHS are absolutely knocking it out of the park. They looked and looked and only found 1 study on puberty blockers + oestrogen
Others try and transphobe but we are world class transphobes
There are two things you can do right now to support young trans people in England.
1) Engage in political advocacy and community support. I've got *loads* of advice on this in my blog post and zine "But what can I do? How to fight the trans panic".
Good morning! I’m attempting Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir again. Read it once for a book club and DNF’ed halfway through. Now giving it another go for a different book club
Good morning. Currently reading Hyperion by Dan Simmons. And seems like he died a day or two before I started this book which is a bit of a coincidence 🙁
LinkedIn is a horrible cursed place full of AI posts. Get outta there for your own sanity
In August 2022, Press Gazette reported that Cohen's regular Observer column had been "paused", "pending an investigation by the newspaper's publisher, Guardian News and Media (GNM). The Gazette also reported that allegations against Cohen had been made public by the barrister Jolyon Maugham, and that a direct complaint had been made by the journalist Lucy Siegle, which she accused GNM of mishandling. Writing in The New European, Siegle detailed her alleged sexual harassment by Cohen in the Observer offices some years before, along with her experience of making a complaint in 2018, stating that GNM executives failed to offer a formal investigation.

I find it ok with ebooks luckily. And it’s great having the ability to search the whole book when I see a name and I’m like, did we meet this person earlier? Am I supposed to remember who that is?
The inability to go back and check something makes audiobooks quite hard for me. I do listen to them but only fairly straightforward, easy/linear narratives where I can’t really get lost in what’s going on

Just listen to what Andrew’s nickname was amongst royal protection officers.
I became Senior VP at a multi-million dollar company at age 26. My salary was $600k. This was in 2018. How did I do it? Blacked out lines CEO (my dad) promoted me to SVP. There are no gimmicks. There are no shortcuts.
This is blackout poetry to me
The people saying Labour should step down to stop splitting the left vote (eg in Peterborough) are semi-seriously joking imo, since Green/Lib Dem voters are often accused of splitting the left vote
We're working around the clock developing Chess 2
