Honestly, gradients are super useful for texturing. You can go really far just by using them and nothing else.

I haven't had much to show off on here lately so I figured I'd show a cool #blender3d trick I learned from the other place years ago:

If you unwrap from view while in top view, you get a very straightforward UV map, and if you use gradients as the texture you can get a really cool sense of depth.

I'm trying to rough out a character design for a new vrc marketplace model.

It's meant to be a more edgy early 2000's shonen character like in Yugioh but I'm trying to nail down the color pallet. Anyone have preferences?

I mainly meant, unless you have a specific purpose for it, just using an expensive suit doesn't add as much as people think it does and just tracking the hands is usually plenty to look good

Yeah, people are weird about mocap for vtubing. There's really no need unless you're straight up doing a concert. Most streams involve sitting at the computer so you can just get away with tundra trackers on your wrists and that'll already look really good and even that's overkill.

As someone who's been there, good luck, it's really hard but super rewarding! Make sure you make progress every day, even if it's just 5 minutes worth and figure out a version control solution like github, I wish I'd known about that sooner.
