It would be great to find out if Patel is still sending new agents to the Holocaust Museum as part of their training. We went in the first week and after seeing the museum had a discussion about complicity and law enforcement that was led by someone from the ADL. This was started in 2001 by Freeh.

Beeswarm plot of the prediction error across different methods of double perturbations showing that all methods (scGPT, scFoundation, UCE, scBERT, Geneformer, GEARS, and CPA) perform worse than the additive baseline.

Beeswarm plot of the prediction error across different methods of double perturbations showing that all methods (scGPT, scFoundation, UCE, scBERT, Geneformer, GEARS, and CPA) perform worse than the additive baseline.

Line plot of the true positive rate against the false discovery proportion showing that none of the methods is better at finding non additive interactions than simply predicting no change.

Our paper benchmarking foundation models for perturbation effect prediction is finally published 🎉🥳🎉

We show that none of the available* models outperform simple linear baselines. Since the original preprint, we added more methods, metrics, and prettier figures!

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Harvard University Loses Student and Exchange Visitor Program Certification for Pro-Terrorist Conduct | Homeland Security Today, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem ordered DHS to terminate the Harvard University’s Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) certification.

Absolutely nothing could every justify this. DHS revokes status for CURRENT foreign exchange students, blocks future enrollment www.dhs.gov/news/2025/05...

Screenshot of NIMH BRAINS funding opportunity. The expiration date is now before the next application due date.

Screenshot of NIMH BRAINS funding opportunity. The expiration date is now before the next application due date.

NIH moved up the expiration date for some funding opportunities, effectively *canceling* the next application date without removing it from the standard table. I can't even imagine how many people are still prepping these grants.

If a foreign adversary snuck into our Federal budget and cut science research and education the way we’re cutting it ourselves — strategically undermining America’s long-term health, wealth, and security — we would likely consider it an act of war.

Northwestern has not received any NIH funds since March. No written communication about why or what can be done. Thank you Ben Singer for raising awareness at #ATS2025

Co-sign (as a cis het white man whose father went to college.)

The broad classes of science and scholars lumped under “DEI” has been some of the most productive and insightful we have seen in medicine with huge benefits throughout the system

"NIH funding is gone, so you should pivot to private foundations for funding"

Meanwhile, private foundations:

i'm just a senior postdoc, standing in front of a career that i have worked really hard for, asking higher education in the united states to not completely implode in front of my eyes before i even get a chance to say the words 'my lab studies'

Very thankful to Haverford for standing up, considering their only superdonor is a prominent member of the administration. Do better, UW.

Forcing people to pay $130 for a passport in order to vote is just a Jim Crow poll tax by another name.

It is blatantly unconstitutional.

Rep. Steven Horsford to Greer: "So the trade representative hasn't spoken to the POTUS about a global reordering of trade, but yet he announced it on a tweet? WTF! Who is in charge? It looks like your boss just pulled the rug out from under you. There is no strategy ... is this market manipulation?"
