I study racist politicians from the Jim Crow era and this is on par with anything that John Rankin, Theodore Bilbo, or Cotton Ed Smith ever said in public

Nothing in this report indicates that this Yale committee is even aware of the existence of public 4-year colleges. When laying out the higher ed landscape they only mention "large public land-grant institutions" and "community colleges", leaving out the institutions that serve 70% of US undergrads.
One I haven't seen mentioned yet is O.E. Hasse in the Montreal priest thriller I Confess.
It's so funny to me that right-wingers love to pretend to love the Middle Ages and the Crusades and all that and then complain that the Pope shouldn't get involved in politics.
Today, Pamela Jo Bondi, our most recent head of the Department of Justice, is blithely ignoring a valid, legal subpoena requiring her to testify before Congress.
We are not a nation of laws. We are a nation of some people can get away with anything.

@amiyatzin.bsky.social Dachau began as a "work-conditioned housing" facility. Auschwitz began as a "work-conditioned housing" facility. Majdanek began as a "work-conditioned housing" facility. Raider @iwillnotbesilenced.bsky.social 1d Utah has just approved a 1,300-person "mega camp" for homeless individuals, This camp lacks transportation, features locked units, and even imposes forced labor. They refer to this facility as "work-conditioned housing," but we simply call it what it is: modern-day internment.
This is hell.
@@realDonaldTrump on TruthSocial: Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy. He talks about “fear” of the Trump Administration, but doesn’t mention the FEAR that the Catholic Church, and all other Christian Organizations, had during COVID when they were arresting priests, ministers, and everybody else, for holding Church Services, even when going outside, and being ten and even twenty feet apart. I like his brother Louis much better than I like him, because Louis is all MAGA. He gets it, and Leo doesn’t! I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon. I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s terrible that America attacked Venezuela, a Country that was sending massive amounts of Drugs into the United States and, even worse, emptying their prisons, including murderers, drug dealers, and killers, into our Country. And I don’t want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because I’m doing exactly what I was elected, IN A LANDSLIDE, to do, setting Record Low Numbers in Crime, and creating the Greatest Stock Market in History. Leo should be thankful because, as everyone knows, he was a shocking surprise. He wasn’t on any list to be Pope, and was only put there by the Church because he was an American, and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump. If I wasn’t in the White House, Leo wouldn’t be in the Vatican. Unfortunately, Leo’s Weak on Crime, Weak on Nuclear Weapons, does not sit well with me, nor does the fact that he meets with Obama Sympathizers like David Axelrod, a LOSER from the Left, who is one of those who wanted churchgoers and clerics to be arrested. Leo should get his act together as Pope, use Common Sense, stop catering to the Radical Left, and focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician. It’s hurting him very badly and, more importantly, it’s hurting the Catholic Church! President DONALD J. TRUMP 3.03k ReTruths 11k Likes 4/12/26, 8:03 PM
@realDonaldTrump on TruthSocial Image of Trump as Jesus 4/12/26
Tonight, President Trump posted a long statement describing the Pope as "weak," "terrible" and "hurting the Catholic Church." He followed it less than an hour later by posting an image of himself as Jesus Christ.

Here's a few of mine!
I did campus tours in Chicago and St. Louis away from home (in KC) in 1979. Very middle class, but my dad worked for TWA and we could fly for free!
What a great set from what I call "Classical Hollywood". Have you heard of the Thin Man drinking game, hahaha?
I was hoping it would go back to 22nd and Brooklyn!
This is not a "you gotta hand it to Alex Jones" comment (bc you do not) but rather an observation that part of how Trump won in 2024 was having the crack far right come on board for him & its indicative of how much he has driven them away again that he's now getting this sort of commentary from them
Pope Leo XIV was half an hour late for his audience with the Italian Winter Olympic and Paralympic committees because he was meeting with David Alexrod [sic], Obama’s chief strategist, this morning.
Leo XIV is the first Pope to be eligible to run for US President.
I still have my poster!

We’re living under a racist fascist kleptocracy and @nytimes.com is asking the hard hitting journalistic questions.
UPDATE: Letters from Leo can now independently confirm that the meeting took place — and that the Vatican was so alarmed by the Pentagon’s tactics that Leo shelved plans to visit America.
Some officials saw their reference to an Avignon papacy as a threat to use military force against the Holy See.
Of course, Britain is famous for it nearly continuous sunlight from April to December, so what works there has no relevance for places like Florida or Texas.
A single line in this piece just made my day:
“The electricity system operator is understood to be preparing to run the grid without any gas for short periods as soon as this summer, in a first for the UK energy system.”
