Sadly, we've said goodbye to Jamie.

After 29 years in labs, Jamie arrived in sanctuary in August 2018. She was a lover of squash & fresh pumpkin.

She was diagnosed w/ chronic kidney disease in 2020 & had been receiving ongoing treatment since.

Rest in Peace, Dr. Goodall.

Jane changed the way the world understands chimpanzees and she inspired millions, including many of our team members, to take up the cause to work with, and for, chimps. Our hearts go out to the many lives she touched and the legacy for chimps that she leaves behind.

It seems appropriate, given this platform's name, that we christen our Bluesky account by acknowledging the 95 chimpanzees (like Loretta here) who were once in a research lab environment but now get to see the real blue sky every day in sanctuary. We couldn't be happier for them.
