NASA's Blue Marble picture of Earth, from 1972
It's only worth going back to the Moon if it makes us look properly again at Earth, and appreciate how beautiful, precious and fragile what we have here is. The most famous images from Apollo aren't about the Moon - they're pictures of Earth. We need to stop taking our home for granted.

Kind of incredible. I was just sitting down to write about how Starmer should be given credit for keeping us out of this mess when he does this. Unutterably foolish and obsequious. Why in God's name should we have anything to do with this shortsighted madness.

Nigel Farage lashes out at a FT journalist and refuses to answer the question.
Is this how Reform UK would ignore media questions if they got into government?

Ukraine didn’t choose this war& it's wrong to assume that this is a permanent arrangement that others can stay safe behind Ukraine forever.Ukrainians are people, not terminators.

Week by week - Laura Kuenssberg is interviewing the party leaders.
When I agreed to come on the show, I was told Nigel Farage was also doing it.
He's now pulled out - and they've sent the deputy instead.
The same Nigel Farage who's refusing to debate me.
A pattern emerging...

We have a pro-British American President in the White House.
Striking our own deal with America is another benefit of Brexit.

This is pretty much the only post anyone should need to understand that Farage is a traitor, a conman and a populist simpleton who must *never* be given power.

Giving Ukraine the resources it needs to defend itself doesn’t prolong the war, it can help end it.
Thank you Radek Sikorski for convening a call of foreign ministers of the Council of the Baltic Sea States, where we were clear:
Securing multi-year funding for Ukraine in December is essential.

Let me check I’ve got this right. Someone calling for entirely innocent foreign-born people to be burned alive at a time of serious social unrest is a free speech champion who must be feted. And some calling them & their hideous promoters in politics & media racist is a menace who must be silenced.

We are standing firm.
The EU just approved one of its strongest sanctions package against Russia to date.
We’re cutting the Kremlin’s war budget further, going after 105 more shadow fleet ships, their enablers, and limiting Russian banks’ access to funding. (1/3)

By the way, the US striking Iran’s nuclear facilities and infrastructure gives Russia the green light to strike Ukraine’s nuclear facilities & infrastructure. This is another reason it’s forbidden under international law. Trump is escalating danger everywhere.

Tories only realised Brexit impact on asylum ‘just before’ leaving EU, admits MP
Chris Philp says in leaked audio that Tories ‘ran some checks’ just prior to Brexit and realised ‘around half’ of small boat arrivals could have been returned under EU law

The government's Crime and Policing Bill is at Report Stage in the House of Commons. Yet scarcely anyone is alert to the implications of Sections 114 & 115, which (as everywhere's close to a place of worship), greatly increase police powers to shut down protest. Please tell MPs and friendly peers.

Tories just voted AGAINST measures to crack down on:
- Knife crime
- Child criminal exploitation
- Antisocial behaviour
- Violence against women & girls
Absolutely shameful!

Tweet from Alex Wickham: "NEW: The White House says US tariffs on UK steel and aluminium will remain at 25% for now
The UK has failed to get the 0% tariffs promised in the US ‘deal’ last month implemented in time for tomorrow
Still, all other countries will be hit by 50% tariffs
So everyone’s a loser"
We’ve gone from 25% steel tariffs, to 0%, up to 50%, and now back to 25%.
We’ve all seen this routine before. Trump causes chaos, Nigel nods along, and British workers pay the price.
It’s time the government got serious about trade with our European and Commonwealth allies.

German Defense Minister Pistorius commenting on Trump:
"I believe that he (Trump) overestimated his negotiating position, his personal power. Trump's first major mistake was right at the beginning, when he promised that Ukraine wouldn't join NATO and even offered Ukrainian territory."
