I eventually want to fill my island up to max capacity and i think that’s when ill call it for more dedicated play but it being on my switch means i can always peek in hehe occasionally hehe

It’s just such a cozy ass game that makes me giggle constantly with how silly it all is. I really would recommend people to try the demo for yourself and see if soemthing like this would be up your alley, I usually don’t care much for these types of games but this one takes the cake for me

and i think this game is primed for the free update treatment. stuff like the concert hall and new outfits/interiors are an easy layup for people to check back in. a good stream of new stuff added to the game can easily bump it to like a 9/10 for me even

but this game goes deeper with preferred pronoun usage not needing to match the mii’s sex!! and same sex/NB couples can still have children!!! it’s such a wonderful thing to see this in a modern game. You aren’t missing out on anything in this game for being who you are and that’s amazing

there some minor nitpicky stuff too like how babies grow up instantly and the romance mechanics are a bit overtuned but it’s honestly nbd for me personally

i love how inclusive this game is. we were promised gay, straight, ace and bi miis with male, female and nb options which was more than enough

it’s moreover a “I’ve binged this game that can only barely sustain binging by design” problem LOOL but yeah. few things I’ve seen have just led to the same few dialogue trees with different phrases stapled on. like, a dozen or so more interactions would’ve kept things a bit more fresh imo

just random silly interactions the miis have with each other that add flavor to whatever crazy ass story you’re coming up with.

however it leads into my only other notable complaint from this game, a lot of the random events and requests I’ve seen quite a bit lately.

island events like the barbecue in the park, rap battles at the fountain, and Mii Quest are also a bit disappointing to be missing, but they’re in spirit replaced with what i can only describe to be random encounter events with miis, sometimes labeled as “what’s happening with ___?”

also yeah, there are some key missing features from the last game, namely the concert hall and island events.

concert hall is a HUGE miss imo since I feel like a lot of people were sold on the 3DS title because of it. very odd to omit this in my opinion, it’s the only “big” thing missing imo

the island builder itself is… eh?

never been a terraformer sorry but it’s kinda clunky to constantly go to the store buy quick build items if you need them instead of them just like. idk directly taking money out of your pocket per item placed? it’s not super streamlined which is discouraging

I love how most of the miis wander the island and naturally interact with each other, it makes up for the fact that in the last game they mostly just occasionally dipped around to other parts of the island or some other apartment. it feels like a living place you’re making and that’s cool

I do wish the paint could be applied to the entire body (or at least to chest level) to get some better effects but that’s a nitpick. also wish I could use the mouse mode on sw2 but it was always a sw1 game so I Get It

But obsessing over mii details scratches a good itch in my brain

the mii maker proper isn’t as in depth as miitopia switch but it’s still really robust and allows for some fun projects. I love, love, love making miis, always have, and it’s even gotten me to learn the face paint engine to make the non-human miis look just that more natural

tomodachi life 3DS was something I sank literally hundreds of hours into as a teenager and this game is threatening to do the very same

most of the quirk and charm comes back with a vengeance. the game has a larger focus on user input which leads to really stupidly fun interactions between ur miis

so I got to the “end” of tomodachi life: living the dream last night as I accomplished the three big tasks (have a child born, collect everything from the wishing fountain, sent miis to space)

tldr: 8/10, very very very fun game. you see most of it early on, but it’s still addicting as hell

People like to bitch abt grammatical gender when theyre learning a language that has it, but one time I accidentally said "le fin" to Nicole and she corrected me by saying "no its la fin. the end is a girl" and I keep thinking abt that. The end is a girl... Isnt that so lovely

clay and Astra had a child on my island named beau and this was all the game. they made a design so heat I had to draw him VERY quickly bc I leave for work soon
