And today the spray-tanned monkfish said “the Conservative leader is stupidly no friend of mine” in a childish effort to use reverse psychology on Canadian voters (lately the Conservatives have been using a lot of the Republican’s tactics and rhetoric and Musk even straight-up endorsed Poilievre).

Please folks, I need some good news.
Vancouver city by-election! Time to vote!
ROLLERGIRL (as listed in all-caps) is on the ballot, probably the most well known person on the list.

I am told Bluesky is an echo chamber.
X post by Timothy Snyder (@TimothyD ...), posted 6 hours ago. The post reads, "The people Attorney General Bondi is calling 'terrorists' have had no trial and no chance to defend them. We do not know they are. Ignoring the Constitution does not make us safe. It puts us all in peril."
I know this first hand. When I was a child, my entire community was branded as spies and sabateurs, justifying our internment inside barbed wire camps for years without due process, trial or charge.

Plus, more variety, more hair art!
This reminds me of a workshop I was at with an older woman who had the purplish hair that comes from a certain yellow reducing rinse used by older folks. It always comes across as so punk!
Lovely! I never thought about bringing them inside before.
I suspect you are tired. 😅
Crockett: "It's just that they're idiots. These are the same guys as it relates to our nuclear stockpile, they're like, 'Oh, wait a minute, we needed those guys? Can we get them back? Oh, we don't know how to.' I don't know how anyone can look at this administration & feel a semblance of confidence"
“The U.S. administration’s protectionist policies pose challenges for B.C.’s economy, but we cannot let them overshadow the progress we’ve made in protecting our environment, strengthening our institutions, and advancing reconciliation with Indigenous peoples,” interim BC Green Party leader and MLA Jeremy Valeriote said in a statement. “This is not the time to lean into populism, it is a time for vision, action, and bold investment in a clean, green future.”
Well it was throne speech day in B.C. and what a sad spectacle it was.
First, Premier Eby doubles down on the toxic shell game that is LNG/fracking.
Then leader of the Greens—who've clearly snapped back into bougie politics—does mainstream investment blather. #bcpoli thenarwhal.ca/bc-throne-sp...
“My mom talked about #plastic straws before it was cool… I think this is a great methodology for raising kids. You expose children to experiences...& it shapes this amazing [environmental] worldview,” says @VasserSeydel about mom @LauraSeydel.
The Metro Vancouver Regional District is considering cutting funding for climate programs - despite these programs doing incredibly important work and representing a tiny fraction of the budget. If you're anywhere in Metro Van, please take a minute to send a letter to the Directors before Friday!
"Some believe it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. It is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love.' -J.R.R. Tolkien The Hobbit, pub. 1937
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Sending love vibes from our heads to our toes. 💕I’ve always enjoyed the Valentine’s for encouraging our taking a moment to just send out love and care to those we love in all sorts of ways.
Hope you’re having a great day and feeling cared for/noticing those who appreciate you!
While I'm glad to see Premier Eby stand up to Trump’s bullying, I'm concerned that he’s using this moment to push for fast-tracking fracking & LNG. Current events call for real climate leadership—doubling down on fossil fuels isn’t the answer. BC must invest in clean energy, not more gas projects.

Challenging features aside, it is nice to know that I have a friend or two who may be up during the night ☺️
I hope everyone is ok, in Trump-adjusted terms.
Last few days have been more exhausting than usual for me and I’m sure many of you.
Rest if you can. Eat a piece of fruit. Have some water. Move your body. Love someone.
Donate something you don’t need anymore. Smile at a stranger. Read a poem.
Seconded!
Or should I say.. A bloody good flex?
Yay! 🎉
Sweet flex 💪 🧛♀️
In my app there’s an option at the top that allows you to see only posts from people you’re following. I find it a relief since there aren’t advertisements mixes in
Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research.
I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.

Gosh, that’s horrible. (Says me after midnight, when the previous night was also very much awake.) A requirement for once-goth buddies, perhaps?
The millennial experience is growing up with the internet, and watching it go from a free, open, democratic, and eclectic ecosystem to a wasteland of five websites controlled by billionaires, and now seeing it quickly fill up with AI-generated slop.
I want our World Wide Web back.
