There is something quite magical about a drift of balloons on a crisp autumn morning (if I have chosen the right term for a group of them…)

Agreed. A gem.
I always tell myself it’s his walk, not mine.

Spending all day looking at my dog is good for my heart health.
Pretty sure I saw Ardijah live sometime in the 1980s
I hear you.
Nice summary. As always.
This is a winner. Laughed out loud.
Very interesting. We have had a couple of babies recently with quite severe biventricular dysfunction. Always challenging to work through the findings and which medications you think will have the most benefit and cause the least harm.

“There are two ways to do things. My way. And the wrong way.” 🤣
We use standardised solutions in our NICU. They are on imprest so immediately available. Most of our extremely preterm infants get IVN in the 1st 2 hours, when lines are in.
There are rules around how much you give to keep protein intakes appropriate. Cheaper than individualised solutions as well.
Very helpful. We are having this conversation now in our service about assessment and management. We’ve had an ad hoc approach over the past few years but are looking to be a bit more systematic.

Email summary shows no unread emails.
It’s that special time of the year when - for a brief moment in time - I can get my unread emails down to zero.
It won’t look like that when I get back from my leave.
That's a good suggestion. I wish that there were more RCTs on the utility of diagnostic tests. We'd need to stir up some dissent to get people to stop automatically ordering it. 🤔
Thinking about stopping CRPs from being ordered. Has anyone else here stopped relying on them in neonates?
A fulfilling bowl of corn flakes
You know it’s been a long day in the NICU when you get home at 11pm and all you feel like preparing for “dinner” is some cereal.
And Murphy says “Hi” back.

You can never see too many photos of a handsome dog.

Great job, Brett. I’m sure you’ll have lots of additional data to share with us for a particularly vulnerable population of babies.
Probably won’t want to interview you with a “negative” result.

Got to start somewhere with posting something on this site.
This is my Irish Terrier, Murphy.
