Well, I cancelled ChatGPT tonight. I tried out Claude over the last few days and it’s refreshing to not get gas lit and constantly be told I’m special. Claude performs better for what I’ve tested on both services, and remains more on point and more concise. Claude code in mobile is also nice too.

I just found out about speedtest-cli. I can now do speed tests without needing to have a vps with iperf on it. This is going to come in handy with my dual link bandwidth monitoring project (hint T-Mobile internet is fuzzy at best)
A Storm Trooper Miniature from One Page Rules Human Defense force printed on a a 3d printer. Rifle in hand and cape swirling.
First One Page Rules Human Defense Force miniature. A storm trooper from their free set, printed in. A1 Mini with .2mm nozzle. Still tweaking settings but this is definitely paintable.
Thinking about getting into One Page Rules Grim Dark games. I have a friend looking at Warhammer, so I started looking and now I’m looking at spending several hundred for a free game.
A Splunk rep cold-called me. I said we weren’t interested and hung up. He called back to say he “wasn’t finished,” informed me Cisco bought Splunk (years ago), and said I was rude.
Hanging up after “no” isn’t rude. Calling back to scold a stranger is.
Nice, I like the green color, I may have to get another one.
Been working on a raspberry pi based scanner for my zettlekasten inspired note taking system and it now works so I can have a digital and analog version of the same notes. Just need to get it in a project box instead of spread out across my desk.
Just tested out my new printing press for making info cards, still need some tweaking but pretty neat.
Just got a Olivetti Lettera 32 this weekend. A little bit of TLC and she’s working great, it’s a major difference from the studio 44 I already had. I’m trying to use it as a daily log machine for work this weekend to see if the forced slowdown helps me connect things.

Trying to get in the Christmas mood so just printed some new scales for my sak rambler.
Starting to build a self-hosted “paste → deploy” platform for my homelab: paste a single Python file in a web UI, select allowed secrets, and 1 min later it’s live on k8s with a web UI + API, TLS, and GitOps. Would you use something like this?
That’s the best part, creating multiple carry sets to go with the occasion. I always fine tune what I carry and what it’s in based on the event.
Feeling a bit green today, my current EDC. I’m liking the opinel, it feels classy, and was amazingly inexpensive.
What magnifying glass is that?
Aurora G8 is a great light with several modes and I don’t think it has memory mode.
Finalizing the design of my custom knife, now talking with a local knife maker to see if I can get a few made. #edc #knife
I use it as a scraper more often then not, I suppose I could use my Swiss Army knife, but the pry bar is quite a bit wider so makes it faster. Also, I used it to take apart a plastic toy with clips 5 minutes ago. I was really surprised at how often I end up reaching for it.
I’m really liking the NutSac bags if you can get past the name. They are really well made.
Right side, I wrote with my left, but do everything else with my right.
New EDC bead I created. Thinking about an Etsy shop for this and my other 3d printed stuff.
Got an edc pipe kit now. Found my old pipes and figured I’d try it out again.
The are awesome, I was surprised how often I use them. The come in hand for removing random nuts and pulling/peeling things away when I’m 3d printing and am to lazy to find my needle nose pliers.

Just realized one of my dogs seems to assign point values to people in the house and chooses who to be near based on the best “score.” 🐶
I’m going to model his behavior like a decision tree with utility weights.
Anyone else ever track their pets like this?

Newest iteration of the knife. I’m really liking this design. The 3d print really does give you a feel for it, although the balance is obviously completely off.
Trying a new thing. I’m working on designing a small knife and modeling it and 3d printing various prototypes.
Ahh, summer weekends in Phoenix, perfect time to start cleaning and prepping the garage for a workshop. I’ve got to start using all the equipment I’ve got including the laser engraver. Any suggestions for organizing a small workshop?
Does anyone have any tips on designing with 8020 aluminum extrusion? I’m getting ready to start building some woodworking/metalworking workbenches for my garage and want to try to avoid any obvious mistakes.
This is awesome, finally a non hyperbolic ai discussion
