“Within a week she seemed back to normal. What I didn’t know was that measles can cause long-term complications. A child can seem fine while the virus slowly replicates in her brain, poised to exact a terrible toll years later…. Parents should know just how dangerous this disease is.”

Infuriating
Donald Trump must be removed from office for threatening war crimes and genocide.
Speaker Johnson: bring the House back into session.
Invoking the 25th Amendment and impeachment must be on the table, but Congress should also move on a War Powers resolution to stop Trump.
It would be cool to have a legislature that acted to defend its own constitutional prerogatives and, maybe as a treat, the interests of the people it represents too.
This War Will Destabilize The Entire Mideast Region And Set Off A Global Shockwave Of Anti-Americanism vs. No It Won’t
I can't fucking believe we're doing this again.
I know this feels pointless but everyone has to call their congressional reps and say they oppose war with Iran and they oppose Trump illegally starting one without congressional approval — both
5 Calls can help you make the call:

there's a lot of specific overwhelming and massive crises happening at once and every single one has at its root elites who did crimes and never suffered consequences for it.
-Zero Congressional consultation or approval.
-Zero preparation of public for need/consequences of war.
-Zero evidence of thought about "OK, what might the other side do?" Next month. Next year.
-Zero mention of anti-nuke agreement Trump voided, or Trump claim last year that nukes "obliterated."
Just look at how the WB packaged the premiere of Dawson’s Creek for viewers who had already made the choice to tune in to the show’s premiere: It was treated as an event. Now some streamers can’t even be bothered to cut previews for the next episode or recaps of the last one youtu.be/yL9BLGARqOk?...
I don't know how any parent can read these stories without shaking with rage.
MINNESOTA — Mom goes outside to warm up her car, ICE grabs her: "Please, my car kids are all alone in the house!”
So nothing has changed and Homan was just to put a new face on the cruelty, got it

"The children’s mother called the school early Thursday to tell them she’d been detained and asked school leaders to bring the kids to her at the Whipple Federal Building ... because there were no family members ... to care for them.
“We had to deliver them to a detention center,” Kuhlman said.
my only notes to people under 30: your 30s aren't for ditching fandom, they're for re-evaluating all the "cringe" stuff you liked as a teenager through the lens of someone who can appreciate it fully, going, "that owned, actually," and becoming even more unhinged about it. please look forward to it.
Ms. Omar, visibly shaken after the assault, insisted to her staff and security that she would continue. She asked for a napkin and told them: "Just give me 10 minutes. I beg you. Please don't let them have the show." Ms. Omar then turned the crowd. "Here's the reality that people like this ugly man don't understand," she said. "We are Minnesota strong, and we will stay resilient in the face of whatever they might throw at us." Someone in the crowd later thanked Ms. Omar for staying and continuing after the assault, which had shaken not only her but the entire room. "I learned at a young age you don't give in to threats," Ms. Omar said.

highly endorse this episode on HR from one of my favorite podcasts.
it is a goddamn delight to have a deep dive from critics whose expertise sits at the intersection of genre romance, film and tv, professional hockey culture, *and* fandom culture!

I’m so glad this show is back!
The CW finally put up photos for tonight's season premiere of #CWWildCards, which includes the introduction of Max's mom (played by a #Bones favorite): www.givememyremote.com/remote/2026/...
when I talk about how this is truly the only show to have a romance novel structure, this is what I mean: every other romance adaptation turns the fundamentally, crucially narrow focus of a romance novel into a broader tv world. this show feels different because it does not.

This is incredibly effective journalism. Kudos to CNN and Tapper
I think a lot of us get hope wrong. Hope, I do not believe, is an emotion. In fact, hope makes space for lots of emotions to exist alongside it. You can DO hope scared, angry, sad etc...
Hope doesn't find us. We make hope through action and struggle. It's a practice of living and is re-made daily.
Filming ICE is an act of journalism. Cell phone footage is vital source material for reporters who can’t be everywhere at once.
Shooting, killing and other targeting of those documenting news is an attack on press freedom and all else that's good in the world.
I can't put into words the feeling of watching our government, a hive of evil antisocial filth, the absolute worst humanity has to offer, colliding with the best. Ordinary people trying to help each other, risking everything to stand up for what's plainly, unambiguously fair and right. It's unreal
