I agree - I have no desire to leave Villa Park at all, and our footprint isn't the issue (we can get our current ground to 60k+ if we need to). Main issue is transport links and infrastructure plus bad decisions on pricing.

I think we'll struggle to fill it every game unless we start winning things to justify our ludicrous prices - we already have empty seats in the Europa, and that will happen in the league too if we have a drop off so there is a little risk.

We may be in the Champions League with the smaller stadium but this is great news for the future. 50k+ puts us up with Newcastle and the new Everton stadium in the top 50 stadium capacities in europe.

Not backing it, just saying that it’s just an iteration - undoubtedly this will fail (though I suspect that the legal burden may fall on the parents so maybe the issue of phones will lessen to an extent) and ultimately there will be call for a blanket ban on phones for u16s after that.

Loads of schools have an “off and in the bag“ policy which doesn’t work even a single iota, so I guess it’s the next rung on the ladder.

But it will be a gigantic problem for the kids who need phones (those SEN kids who need taxis, for example).

The scenario where we miss out on top 5 and don't win the Europa doesn’t bear thinking about in terms of the morale of the club - that loss vs Utd last season affected the team for 4 months. This would be 50x worse.

Exactly that - there is one niche scenario on that last day where we’ll turn up to actually play and that’s if we’re in 5th but could finish 6th and lose the final (if we manage to get there).

I wouldn’t fancy Arsenal’s chances of winning the league if they need us to get a result vs City last game of the season if we’ve already qualified for CL and/or we’ve managed to make it to the Europa final.
