Hi Tim! Jochen Gebauer at the University of Mannheim is investigating social learning through surveys - we are for example working on a questionnaire aiming to capture social learning strategies. It‘s all still unpublished material but maybe you want to shoot him an email in any case?!

The testing layout of the Tolman study, the training route was blocked and multiple pathways were provided instead in a radial formation. Rats chose the one of these heading to the previous reward location, suggesting they inferred a novel shortcut.

What was the Sunburst maze experiment?

Rats learned a long, winding route to a reward.

This route was then blocked & new paths were opened - one headed directly toward the former reward location.

This shortcut route was the most chosen path (36%)!

Hi Liz! I can recommend Peloton. It’s pricey but has something for everyone (recorded and live classes, different instructor personalities, various workout types) and is fun. They advise combining running with strength training - exercising your legs helps as much as training endurance itself. 🩷
