A screenshot of the dance in kitsune tails, with kiri dipping a shocked looking yuzu. Above them is a pull quote: "Nintendo wasn't brave enough to put lesbian fox girls in Super Mario Bros. 3" GamesRadar+
kitsune tails, the best lgbtq indie game award winner at the 2025 gayming awards, is on sale for 35% off on steam and itch!
get it for only $13 via kitsunegames.com/kitsunetails
TIL when Namco moved their headquarters to Tokyo, the new building was mostly funded by sales of the Famicom port of Xevious: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Io2A...

My colleague had a good experience prompting it to scaffold a blender plugin, that he then filled-in the business logic for. Boilerplate's not, like, not-a-real-concern. I just don't think I would pay $200/mo for that :P
I've definitely had to evict a number of treasured childhood memories to make room for all the technical errata to do my job T____T
Every time I've tried a coding chatbot it's produced unusable slop. E.g. Unreal's API surface has lots of superficially-similar names for distinct features they're constantly confused about. I think the hype is common from domains that are 90% boilerplate, like making web dashboards or w/e.
Techno tunes and tune shooting in '99. Square's second foray into shmups/STGs on PlayStation, though this time only as the publisher. Blast away with weapons named after zodiac animals, all while vibing to the included tracks or your own CD.

I know them as "the developers of that Megadrive Shmup that opens with their character Mania smashing a Super Famicom" youtu.be/d61olTitCDg?...
TIL via @chrontendo.bsky.social that developer/publisher Vic Tokai was a branch of a utility conglomerate?? LOL, you go you, bubble-era Japan.
youtu.be/Fqv0sJ_WyBk?...
hello @rangedtouch.bsky.social I rushed to my computer after hearing the first 15 minutes of the latest Shelved by Genre because I had to make your idea real immediately
A hairless rat with a toy colorful piano. Labeled "Niel banging out the tunes April 13, 2006". Simple painting style.
Neil still bangin' out the tunes to this very day, 20 years later!

Also literally a linked-list, lol
Well each tube chunk here has a local "junction matrix" which defines where to attach the next chunk. So starting with Mโ (the transform of my "shmup manager" actor) the transform of chunk Mโ = MโรMโรMโร...รMโโโ (each new rotation local to the previous one)
quaternions are like generalized direction-vectors that makes it easy to pick the "shortest angle" (just lerp + renormalized the chord) but composing two quaternions is no different than composing two rotation matrices -- holonomy doesn't really come into it.

For good or ill, Cleopatra (1970) is a film where things will not stop happening.
Cubic spline only defines a tangent-vector, not a full-3D-rotation, so the devil is in how you "augment" the spline with a bitangent.
Rotation Minimizing Frames: www.microsoft.com/en-us/resear...
Basically, you think about the rotation as a 3x3 matrix, and update the basis vectors with double-reflection.
Though these bending tunnels are swing arcs, not splines.
IDK what you mean by humps, haha.
For splines it's like, if you have S-curve with some horizontal/vertical displacement relative to the start, then the 3D rotation can only remain flat/up if the orientation "twists" a little along the spline tangents as it evolves.
It's about how decompositions of 3D rotations are never fully-independent. Like how if you "pitch" 180-degrees + canonicalize you end up with a 180-degee "roll" instead, but applied to swing/twist decomposition instead.
Errata: swing/twist is a useful decomposition of an arbitrary axis-angle rotation, kind like pitch/yaw/roll, but with a combined pitch+roll. It's useful for thinking about changing gravity, because you can extract "swings" from the old/new up-directions.
In the tube-case, I can't guarantee the horizon stays level between segments unless the tube "twists" a little bit. But because I don't care about the horizon staying level I never need to twist the tube, so it's very stable.
... even through you only made "swing" rotations, your final orientation is "twisted" 90-degrees relative to your initial orientation. Every closed path will induce these "twists."
The "classic example" is to imagine you're standing on the north pole facing some initial direction. Then you walk a quarter-turn to the equator, turn-right 90 degrees, walk a quarter turn along the equator, turn-right 90 degrees again, and walk back up to the north pole...
Virtue of building for changing-gravity as a first-principle: no control or camera issues with holonomy (horizon-drift as you stack-up swing rotations) in the new bend segments.

Dinosaur game! I'm putting it on hold for now, but I had a lot of fun animating all these guys.
