Palantir's CEO published a manifesto arguing Western tech firms have a "moral debt" to US military dominance, that AI weapons are inevitable, and that "some cultures are dysfunctional." This isn't just a regularly evil tech or defence contractor, itβs a fascist political project.

The human circulatory system, before and after proper cable management.
#AcademicSelfie it's been several million years since I last had these robes on but it was so fun to move the admission of one of my former students this morning π
My piece in @opiniojuris.bsky.social on the arrest & charging of Ben Roberts-Smith for 5 #warCrimes of murder. An incredibly significant legal development in #Australia, but also in the general global fight against impunity for international crimes. #intLaw #IHL opiniojuris.org/2026/04/15/a...
I definitely wouldn't view mine as aspirational more like absolute insanity
lots of research is good!! this is just me trying to convince myself to settle the fuck down
But it feels really REALLY hard to do irl because I am absolutely terrified of missing something vital
I'm realising it's actually okay to NOT cover the field in every single footnote; as long as the premise is reasonably sound and defensible. It's not necessary to track down every argument or counter-argument. One or two examples are sufficient+
and so I still have the urge to do an equivalent amount of work on everything I write. But it just doesn't make sense to spend that much time researching for, say, a 5,000 word book chapter+
So one weird thing I am learning post-PhD is to do LESS research (stay with me). My thesis was researched to death, not a word I didn't double and triple check. The bibliography is 133 pages long. Mini thread+
bring back duelling
Yeah it's the King Sejong Institute, basically the Korean equivalent
I appreciate this isn't the main point here, but what the fuck is that thing flying above Trump, and which World of Warcraft raid do we have to kill it in before it destroys Azeroth?

Ukraine's use of lawfare has been genuinely impressive - it hasn't always gone their way but they're fighting with every tool available.
Honestly, I don't think there is any difference in the legal context. Both invasions were equally unlawful. The practicalities and logistics of setting up such a tribunal, however, depend on political will which is where Ukraine has done an amazing job of lobbying for support.
my new Saturday morning view
I didn't know puppies could get the hiccups
I'd really like to see leadership calling for impeachment and removal, regardless of whether they have the votes to get it done. Same way we called for marriage equality before we had the votes. A leader's job is to lead. If a genocidal threat isn't impeachable, then nothing is.
all these universities kept axing medieval history departments as if they thought tyrants beefing with the Pope was going to stop being relevant
New #CalledToTheBar: What does it take to prosecute the βcrime of crimesβ in real time?
@drnajimagi.bsky.social is joined by Mykola Yurlov (Ukrainian MFA) and Mark Ellis (IBA) to unpack the proposed Special Tribunal for Aggression against Ukraine.

if we are declaring war on Iran or joining in this self-inflicted idiocy it will be the worst foreign policy decision of my lifetime
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will deliver an address to the nation tonight, outlining the government's response to the Middle East conflict and encouraging Australians to "play their part". He is expected to urge Australians to save fuel for areas and industries that "most need it". The address will be simulcast on television and radio across Australia at 7pm AEDT.
people simply love it when you storm out of the gates to support an illegal war, then lecture them about personal responsibility after it makes their lives worse
