This is why I think “rights” are a bad, naive idea. Yes, rights change every time the people with the power to violate them change. We only have the rights that the sovereign (in a democracy, that should be all of us) agree to grant us. Every election is a struggle over rights won or lost.
Thank God our heroic Secretary of War is bringing us back to the Good Old Days when our warriors were so much lethaler than the enemy, that fewer of them died by enemy action than by trivial little issues like flu or dysentery.
2. …account the statistical data, that they don’t enter into a relationship with a man; that the risk of becoming a victim of physical or psychological violence is significantly increased.
The chairperson of the German Association/Union of Criminal Law Enforcement Civil Servants (prosecutors and police if I’m correct) replying in a hilariously dry, bureaucratic tone to the wrap-up question “so, what would you recommend women do?” Approximate translation: “Well, if you take into…🧵

“…the median age of eligible voters these days is about 48. But the age of actual voters is about 52…”
This article is pandering bullshit. Rich people are hoarding wealth. Tax it out of them. You can’t do that unless you vote. Young people aren’t bothering.

Halb so wild… die sind ja bloß liebe, süße Taugenichtse.
Rumor has it that someone high up in the ranks of the Girl Scouts organization in the South has decided to de-emphasize the “camping” aspect of the Girl Scout experience, and pivot instead to filling the gap left by… the fading of that once-proud Southern tradition of… Cotillion 😱
“Was würdest du tun, wenn es einen Tag lang nur Frauen auf der Welt gebe?” Hier antworten Männer in der Regel mit “Das Gleiche wie immer”…
Habe es schon immer gewusst: Männer sind seltsam. Ich hätte ehrlich gedacht, keine andere Antwort als „eben das Nicht-sein“ aus Männermund möglich sei.
2. …young and attractive, then abandon them when they become mothers. Don’t fall for these assholes. Don’t fall for the allure of having babies with their asshole genes, and don’t fall for the allure of becoming their junior asshole in order to increase your own power to get away with shit.
Assholes don’t age— as Trump illustrates, they can remain assholes even in the last few feeble years of their lives, because they are surrounded by junior assholes whose power comes from carrying out the assholery of the feeble senior asshole. Their mating strategy is to fuck women when they’re…🧵
“…made clear that it was not calling for amnesty, nor was it asking for a pathway to citizenship for immigrants.”
It’s that old enslaver mentality: the people who do the hard work that makes our lives pleasant should be poor, without rights or votes.

Aphasia
This should be a golden age for non-MAGA White people suffering from depression. Their negative self-talk should be running along the lines of “It’s all my fault— except for that crazy war” “I’m so useless—although at least I’m not useless while being President” “I’m doomed— but not as doomed as….”
Thanks for taking my comments seriously! 🙂
And yet, everyone wants tacos and cheap yard work and cheap houses and cheap beef and… I guess we had the American Revolution because we didn’t want to have to live Upstairs Downstairs with our servants?
On the scale of “the daily news,” the inflection point in the 19th and 20th centuries seems so shallow as to be nonexistent. As far as I know, there is good evidence for it being an order of magnitude or two sharper, on the scale of geological time, than all the others throughout Earth’s history.
The climate has a lot of momentum. Also, a couple of sentences that sound good in a newspaper article can’t accurately describe what’s happening. I guess I don’t see the point in someone who’s not a climate change denier criticizing an exaggeration of how sharp an inflection point was.
Graph of extrapolated global mean temperature 0 CE to present, showing a downward inflection around 1000 and an upward inflection around 1700-1900.
Your graph covers the wrong time period. You can’t support a claim about what happened starting around 1820 with data comparing what happened from 1861-1890 with what happened after that. You need a graph like this (which kind of vaguely supports both sides of this argument):
There’s plenty of stuff that Jesus said that Vance also disagrees with. At least he’s consistent! 🧐
Wait— he’s even slender man?!?!
I’d just like to point out that if it wasn’t too late for us to have a PBS and an NPR before they ever existed, logically it can’t be too late after someone completely destroys them either.

It would be pretty funny if this announcement had included no mention of resuming the sanctions on Iran’s oil trade that Trump dropped in order to lower the price of oil.
