Wow, nat mighty white of you to tell other Americans what they "might as well be."

Any other Americans whose 1st Amendment rights you feel are subject to your whim, or nah?

Hmmm. I fully expect more outrage directed at that soldier than was directed at hamas for the 10 7 atrocities

So middle school/high school redux. Ive often observed that life never gets more complicated than the middle school cafeteria.

Never forget what Hamas did on October 7. Never forget the horrific show they put on when returning the Bibas family bodies.

All the people who want peace and prosperous lives for Jews and Palestinians alike, understand that Hamas will never concede to that.

So much was lost when kids were able to check books out of the library by ordering them up from their computer in the dorm instead of having to go into the stacks and encounter books they hadn’t planned on seeing

Why would anyone not make sure that their holes are patched before standing up Rockwell-painting-like to declare "my software has issues and im gonna try and see if this new thing can fix it". Bc that'd be a weird thing to announce.

Elections matter. They determine basic civil rights of all of us.

No more "I can't get myself to vote for the Democrat because I don't like xyz." No more voting third party and taking a vote from the Dem.

Give Dems the power to make change by putting them into office.

Statements against antisemitism are not credible when the person making them doesn't support israelis' right to security.
These people, which include Pope Leo and most Western leaders, are okay with Jews as individuals, but they're uncomfortable as soon as Jews get together and defend themselves. They're uncomfortable that Jews had the temerity to rebuild Israel on the land that has been theirs for over 3000 years. They're uncomfortable that when the Jewish nation is attacked, it defends itself.
They're okay with weak Jews. They occasionally denounce attacks on helpless Jews. They LOVE dead Jews (see Dara Horn's book). But when Jews are strong and able to stand up for themselves, it's the Jews' attackers that they excuse.
What would you call these people? Antisemites? Cowards? Useful idiots? Useless idiots? Maybe all of the above.

Fred Maroun is a Canadian of Arab origin who lived in Lebanon until 1984, including during 10 years of civil war. Maroun supports Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state, as well as a liberal, democratic Middle East where all religions and nationalities, including Palestinians, co-exist in peace.

Its govt currently doesnt but Israel accepted peaceful coexistence and 2 state solution ie Partition Plan and subsequent 2 state solutions, the ppl with the rockets and guns in Gaza and S Lebanon dont. Current policy is a product of that rejectionism/violence. Itll change when the situation changes.

All those things can be true, and you can still support Israel and a two state solution.

I was treated to a spectacular bit of gaslighting by Ghislaine Maxwell’s lawyer, David Markus, over this post. I have a zero-tolerance policy for both gaslighters and mansplainers—habits that frequently overlap—so I’m sharing some thoughts. Please spread the word. Thanks. youtube.com/shorts/uMb82...

On tyranny Aristotle and Plato’s words

On tyranny Aristotle and Plato’s words

I’m reading On Tyranny this morning. The connection is clear. Aristotle and Plato weren’t predicting the future. They were describing what they’d already watched happen.

Ancient philosophy came out of real situations people had to navigate. We’re witnessing it today. #Stoicism #StoicSisterhood

I’m reading this book on animal empathy by primatologist Frans de Waal and I love the constant jabs at economists for using incorrect assumptions about “primitive” animal behavior to justify capitalist systems.
