In 2021, I needed an emergency operation and spent the next 1 1/2 year of my life in pain. What saved my sanity was my #spotify playlist of #HallAndOates. When the pain wasn't unbearable, I played my bass along to those songs. Thank you @thedarylhall.bsky.social ; your music got me through. ❤️🩹 #music

Chopper, the talking reindeer. From Netflix's "One Piece" live action series.
Is there anyone else choking back tears watching #OnePieceNetflix, S2 E7 "Reindeer Shames?
Look behind the animation, CG and outrageous costumes from the show and you will see that Chopper is not only adorable, it is character arc writing at its finest. #Amwriting #OnePiece
Fantastic work!!
This is what my crew and I are risking our lives for. I’ve seen better art projects from my daughter’s class, and Maddy is only ten.
Dafür riskieren meine Crew und ich unser Leben. In der Klasse meiner Tochter habe ich schon bessere Kunstprojekte gesehen – und Maddy ist erst zehn. #HardSF #sci-fi
What ate up my time was the Onboarding; being forced to add emails, etc. Then I got caught in a Reader loop instead of Author. I created the publication, but Substack could not link it to my profile and it then duplicated my profile. Nonsense like that (and much, much much more).
Anyone else in the #WritingCommunity lose hours of their live trying to setup or post on #Substack that they will never get back?
#Amquerying #Amwriting.
This is will be my only rant post. Spent 2 mornings setting up my SubStack. THE ONBOARDING IS A FARCE. THE USER INTERFACE IS A FARCE. Menu bars? A joke.
If #Substack wanted money to use, I wouldn't. This site uses the 90s Microsoft mentality: release half-assed, fix it later. Or maybe never fix it.
Now hosting a public preview of my manuscript's opening chapters to build a readership while I query.

Concept Art. Interior view of the central Promenade on Circulus Station, orbiting Mars. From my hard sci-fi novel, DEEP ORBIT: Zero Margin.
If you like the newest visuals, check out the other DEEP ORBIT accounts. Here, Maya and Veronica share behind-the-scenes info and pics related to the novel's content. No spoilers here, I promise. #HardSF #Amquerying #Sci-Fi

Illustration of the effects of space flight on the human body.
George Lucas once said, “People don’t realize Star Wars is actually a soap opera and it’s all about family problems — it’s not about spaceships.”
Am I "science nerd" like Weir? Sadly, no.
At its core, my novel is not about orbital mechanics and astrophysics, but the people trying to survive it.
Concept art of Dale Ransom and Veronica Vega on the 1.2 gravity world of Zethera, an exoplanet beyond our solar system. The image is for my hard sci-fi novel, "DEEP ORBIT: Zero Margin".
Another fun visualization of Ransom and Vega on the high-gravity world of Zethera for my novel, "DEEP ORBIT: Zero Margin. In this scene, they are on their way to a dig site to recover an alien relic. #HardSF #Amquerying #Sci-Fi
Anyone else in the #WritingCommunity use concept art for inspiration?
Stunning photography. I don't know how you capture these moods so consistently, but keep it up.
Book cover of Isaac Asimov's "The Caves of Steel", published October, 1953
While we celebrate spring, Sci-Fi fans celebrate the visionaries. 🚀
Isaac Asimov (who passed in April 6, 1992) once said, "The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom."

Promo still for Veil of Shadows, a new fantasy limited series on Netflix Germany.
As if "Judge Dee's Mystery" and Unveil: Jadewind" weren't enough, this series demonstrates that China leapfrogged Hollywood as masters in visual storytelling ages ago.
If they make a Chinese GoT, American cable TV shows are doomed.

Image of WASP-193b, the "cotton candy" planet, 1,200 light years away from Earth.
Did you know there are planets in our galaxy with the density of cotton candy? 🍭
WASP-193b is 1,200 light years away, 50% larger than Jupiter but 7x less massive. If you had a bathtub big enough, it would float. #SpaceFacts #Exoplanets #Astronomy
The cover has an Easter theme, with Tintin, Captain Haddock, Professor Calculus, Thomson, and Thompson in a field with several Easter eggs on the ground or in a basket. However, a rocket ship has burst through the page, sending them running, and we can see images through the hole it went through, as if we are seeing the interior of the magazine. It says “Joyeuses Paques!” (Happy Easter)
Tintin magazine, cover dated April 9, 1952.

Movie still of space station from the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey
The version shown at the premiere was 19 minutes longer. After the D.C. and the subsequent New York premiere (April 3), Stanley Kubrick spent the next few days re-editing the film, cutting the "excess" to create the tighter, more atmospheric cut that eventually became a hit.
Movie still from 2001: A Space Odyssey. HAL lip reads the astronaut's conversation.
The movie premiered on April 2, 1968, in Washington, DC, at the Uptown Theater. During the premiere, 241 people walked out of the theater. Among them was movie star Rock Hudson, who reportedly stood up and famously asked, "Will someone tell me what the hell this is about?"

Machines flying ships would cost millions in hardware and R&D. But chilling to think a military would value life so low. Excluding the sales of black market organs, the total chemical value of all the elements in a human body—carbon, calcium, and trace metals—maxes out at about $200-$500.
