Organizers of the Guilford No Kings rally decided that it has to be just a “march around the Town Green” this time, because there is a Gilmore Girls Festival on the Green this weekend. That says something about shoreline CT, but I’m just not sure what.

my kids are still young but this is basically our strategy. even video games are something that we first and foremost play together, as a family, in the living room.

I’ve always enjoyed this dish, so I tried it with a sweet potato that I had left in the hot ashes of a fire (wrapped in tinfoil) overnight, cut in half, and cooked the same way. It didn’t disappoint.

I grew up in SF, but one of my closest friends in college was from North Carolina. I picked up her use of y’all partially because it worked as a gender-neutral term at a college that was 75% female (at the time) & had a high LGBTQ & gender non-conforming population. This was the ‘80s, by the way.

2 summers in the ‘80s, I worked in a Hell’s Angels owned pizzeria in the Haight Ashbury. The manager, a coke-head & Goth/punk guitarist, once leaped over the counter with a cheesesteak in hand to chase an older “local character” down the street, nailing him in the back of the head from 20 ft.

They would hunt malls for underage girls. Two came up to my then 12 yr. old daughter & her friend when I was walking close, but not with them. I completely lost my shit on them & someone called security. No one even asked me to quiet down, or step back, but they were escorted out immediately.

Rowling would name a new "house" after them.

I was in high school at the same time he was. I didn't know him, but I knew who he hung out with, and yep.

A year after leaving Brooklyn for CT when our kids were 7 & 9, we were making our way through Grand Central to the 4 on a visit to friends, when I heard my daughter exclaim “Walk on the right!” muttering “Faster, fucking tourists…” An adult living in Europe, she still rants about slow walkers.
