And of course you can't please everyone. I think things like dropping off hot cross buns or chocolates around the departments are the best bet. But maybe only because that works for me!

I was just about to say the same thing. My last few workplaces used to do special breakfasts — nice unless you have kids to get to school.
And there were the lunches or morning teas for everyone unless you were on a public desk (more carework!)

Now I need to know! What would you want to write for The Witches? How would you expand that universe?
Now we are talking about Perry the Platypus vs Doctor D, and YES Doctor D is the Twelfth Doctor, and YES everything plays out just as usual
My kids have been imagining the adventures of Ben, Polly, and the Second Doctor, only Ben is Ben Grimm

Probably, this has never happened to me.
I have been spat on, but no verbal abuse.
Oo, you don't want Seymour to find out that caucus is a 'safe space', Mark Mitchell...
NZ Govt has taken a huge bet on fossil fuels. NZ was already spending $8 billion a year importing fossil fuels, and now the global fuel crisis is going to make that worse. Betting on fossil fuels has turned out to be a losing bet for NZ. This is the 14 point policy record of 2 years of the NZ Govt:
You need a stick
We're all waiting for the end of the war so the price of petrol can go back down.
You know, like how the price of everything went back down after covid.
I love how the Greens follow Patti Smith. Cause why not?
The children at play, their charming voices rising. Ash. Whispered promises.

Like, in the mornings I think I have the energy for reading or being creative. But that time gets soaked with up doing parenting/housework/paid work.
Omg right?
I don't even have the focus for tv, i'm rereading fanfics
I stopped to let them pass and he waved cheerily at me
Am I the one who's wrong?
Today's guy-biking-on-the-wrong-side-of-the-road HAD HIS SMALL KID BIKING ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD BEHIND HIM
They were in helmets and high-vis and everything!

Society that only benefits me is at risk
Teen: I'm glad you're not one of those real manly guys
Me: Uh, thanks?
Teen: I mean, because you don't expect us to be like that too
Me: Oh right. Yeah!
Holy shit i should write a book
Yes! And while living within a system where others are doing all the labour that enables these guys to be rugged individuals!
Boys should bloody be doing the dishes and the laundry and the cleaning, because they're part of a household and we all pitch in. That's what boys need to learn: caring and thoughtfulness and being part of a community where we look after each other.
And from memory the point of him making his bed is learning discipline and self-respect. It's implying the virtues of individualism and stoic self-sufficiency (while he's actually benefiting from a system where, apparently, everything else is magically done for him).
Still thinking about this. 'Making his bed' is so emblematic of that mob's whole mindset. It's not doing something useful, like cleaning the kitchen or hanging out a load of laundry. No, a young man can't be expected to be responsible for communal jobs like those. But he should make his own bed.
But having people constantly questioning you *even after you explain* must be so infuriating and draining.
Oh Larre, this sounds so hard! I know what it's like to manage the never ending load day-to-day, because that's just what you do, and then be absolutely brought down when you have to explain your reality to someone (even when they're sympathetic)
