but many doesn't seem to be bothered by that sudden change in what's supposed to matter? can't say I understand them but maybe there's something there that just doesn't work for me

I can't remember what the later parts of ff7 are even is about, despite that I remember the entire Midgar section in full detail
Expedition 33 is worse, the twist throws away the things I cared about, for something that I wasn't emotionally invested in, which is why I stopped playing it
I kinda feel this isn't too uncommon with jrpgs, ff7 is similar. Great setup, characters and interesting stakes, good worldbuilding. Then things get... meta? cosmic? Something so weird it can only be told in exposition, not shown. Don't know how to describe it
Yeah, I stopped playing at act 3. I was really engaged in the story enough to keep going with the gameplay I didn't enjoy much
But once I stopped caring for the story, nothing kept me playing
Oh you mean like freeware? I am not aware of any
the reference was meant as a joke, but it attached itself to my mind like the month I had the DK Rap from Donkey Kong 64 stuck in my head
Or more recently, the Rik Spek theme song
Since I added a particular quest to my game, I've by reflex started referencing 13375⁋34|< about 25 years after the fact and I don't know how to stop
Or, should I say, this isn't how it's not done
This is how it's done:
if (Equals(false != gameIsReady, Convert.ToBoolean(0)) is not !false); else
return;
haha it basically does various unrelated convenience things I needed :)
That's neat! I do not have the skill to pull that off
but at least SpinCAD feels very natural for me, already made my 3rd effect :)
I mean SpinCAD Designer works nicely
but... what if I learned FV-1 assembly?
I have learned how to run my own DSP programs on one of my hardware synth modules
Now I just have to tell myself not to get too sidetracked, I must also actually make a game
ooooh good old Ultra Fractal is still around, now version 6, with animation capabilities
Idea
Might as well mention the biggest two downsides:
1: It's expensive
2: When I got into modular synthesis I was like "I'll fill out my rack with modules and stop there" and others were like "lol, right". Now I'm like "ooh but if I had more modules"... this does not pair well with point 1
1: It's a resource smart way to build things. If a normal synth breaks beyond repair, replace the whole thing. If a module breaks, the others still work.
2: Because all modules interact, each module extends the possibility space of the other modules. Not linearly, but exponential-ish.
Hardware modular synthesis is easily the most fun I've ever had with making sounds. No PC software synthesis I've ever used comes close.
Only working in my own algorithmic music software can match the fun factor of modular synthesis.
Two reasons to consider modular synthesis:
oof googling for video software for what I'm trying to do now and results are AI nonsense X)
God I hope this era will end soon
I'd also really want to convey people to check my game out, while also being clear the sounds aren't actually related to the game.
It's a bit weird to make an unrelated thing to promote another thing (except they both have cool sounds using modular synthesis?), but maybe I can be upfront about that
Yeah! The tricky thing is, I don't know what sorta video I'd pair it with. I can't let it take time away from actually making my game, so ideally I'd want to be able to make something fast that looks good.
I may need to research software for making abstract procedural audio visualization videos.
I finished an eerie atmosphere sound effect pack for games/music which I'm going to release for free.
I created it for two reasons, 1: practice my modular synth rack, and 2: promo my game.
How does one promote such an SFX pack best? What would an ideal youtube trailer look like?
I wonder if the person playing it for the very last session ever will be aware of that this is taking place
If yes, that's a terrifying thought
I have to avoid mentioning the type (e.g. bool) because I may use similar tools with other types, and I must avoid the word Operator since it's taken (Operator / UnaryOperator gets confusing)
[Type][Operator] vs [Type][Unop] however is very easy to follow :) Thanks for the suggestion
oh yeah, that works. Unop is probably the best term here
huh yeah that could make sense
naming problems, again!
I of course have "operator" which determines how to combine two things (and, or, xor)
What's a word when you make a change to a single thing? For a boolean, the possible options would be "do nothing, set to false, set to true, toggle to other state"
Blessed are the autists, for they will be artists.

It looks like they are going to fight - a lot
This is all I'd ever ask for
