I love picking books on these little free libraries, read them, and them return them to another little free library many blocks away. I feel like a literary bee cross-polinating!

really? I read about "immersive reading" on NPR Books newsletter and still didn't tried. Did you do that with all types of books or a specific genre (i.e. novels, etc)?

I wrote the tips I couldn't find anywhere else. They're simple, but they worked well for me. Do you have any tips to retain what you read?

I'm also giving away free downloads of Planet of the Head-Breakers. It's about a dystopian future where everyone has to get a lobotomy before reaching adulthood.

This week we recommended "Portnoy's Complaint" by Philip Roth. I think it's a rich prose that mixes fiction and nonfiction with a sarcastic blend: morebookslesspills.substack.com/p/book-rx-16...

Autism study is my life’s work. The spectrum has lost all meaning A professor who helped to shape our framing of the condition fears so many characteristics are linked to it that it’s ‘no longer a useful diagnosis’

It's about autism, but it's so truth for ADHD and many other disorders...

“The spectrum has become so accommodating that I fear that it has now been stretched so far that it has become meaningless and is no longer useful as a medical diagnosis.”

Try Libby, if you're into eBooks. It shows how many people are waiting for the book you're holding and make you feel extra guilty if you're not reading lol

Book Rx #11 - The Arrogant Ape — The Myth of Human Exceptionalism and Why It Matters - by Christine Webb Explore how Webb’s critique of human exceptionalism points not only to some faulty foundations of science but also to solutions towards a more accurate, humane medicine.

I wrote a little bit about my ADHD diagnosis (and the frustration that came afterwards) on this review: morebookslesspills.substack.com/p/book-rx-11...

Thanks for reading it! Yes, absolutely! The "labeling" of a nuanced and instable disorder is a shortcut that people might take for face value and make their lives worse. (i.e. My experience with ADHD is full of these moments)

I just finished reading "Blood and Treasure", and in one of the chapters the author says the Witch hunts were in part due to a harsh winter that killed the crops. The whole obsession with witches was a coverup for bigger problems. Does "How to Kill a Witch" mention that?

Exactly! I'm still recovering from "No More Tears" (the one about Johnson & Johnson). Terrific book but makes you distrust big pharma even more!
