Congratulations to #NASA and partners for an absolutely textbook crewed lunar mission - something we once feared we'd only see again in #AlternateHistory fiction.

As we celebrate the return of the #ArtemisII astronauts, today's SLP #SaturdayShowcase is of an optimistic take on the #future of #humanity in #space, Tom Anderson's "The Surly Bonds of Earth". www.sealionpress.co.uk/product-page...
Just about remember my nan be so excited to see him in a coffee shop in Monte Carlo when I was a little kid.
As the #ArtemisII #Integrity spacecraft approaches the #Moon for its groundbreaking #flyby mission, Matthew Kresal remember a time fifty years ago when it was once planned that #Apollo might travel all the way to #Venus for a similar mission. www.sealionpress.co.uk/post/apollo-...
Congratulations to #NASA for the textbook #ArtemisII launch! We post many #WhatIf articles here speculating about cancelled ambitious space projects, so it is wonderful to see one actually enter real #history.
Great summary of space travel (and not) since the last moon landings.
#Moonshot
I can't spell occaisional. Or relevant.
Just caught up with the @spybrary.bsky.social tribute to #LenDeighton.
Terrific author. The Ipcress Files is a great, book, movie and TV series. Shows the quality of the source material.

Saw them at the same park.
I'd literally just said "shame they don't have and Harpy Eagles"
Wonderful park.
A topical #SaturdayShowcase of past SLP #AlternateHistory #books today - in "The Darling Buds Express", Ed Feery explores a world with a worse #OilShock leading to the UK re-adopting #coal and #steam #trains - as seen through the eyes of ordinary people. www.sealionpress.co.uk/product-page...
Quite like this movie too.
The book annoys the hell out of me as its copied verbatim from the film. The problem is, the Leiter/shark stuff comes from the Live and Let Die book, so it makes no sense.
Granted The JB franchise isn't meant to be realistic, but this infuriated me.
The Spy Who Loved Me mentions the marriage.
XXX recites his bio at a bar and he interrupts when she says 'Married once'
Have to agree - big fan of Dalton's two outings. Maryam d'Abo's gullible cellist and Art Malick's mujahadeen leader are great.
And if i needed a Bond girl to help me in a sticky situation I think Carey Lowell's Pam Bouvier might be the most useful from License to Kill.
Len Deighton’s SS-GB is the most successful example of treating alternate history as a setting, not a genre: a master of the espionage genre weaves a tale through Nazi-occupied London that doesn’t rely on the setting to be interesting, but grabs and uses what’s unique about it. RIP to a great.
Terrific and often overlooked writer.
Tom Anderson looks at the origins of #political #flags and party #colours via their origins in #rosettes and #cockades. And how could they have been different in a #WhatIf scenario? www.sealionpress.co.uk/post/alterna...
Excellent summary of flying wings and their AH potential.
I have a special interest as my upcoming 3rd #DavidBrook ah-novel features flying wings.

So, should I assume AI is actually smarter than I thought and can predict the future?
Or stick with my original concerns that it can't really be trusted to answer a simple question?
As we count down to #NASA 's #ArtemisII mission to the #Moon , Matthew Kresal ( @kresalwrites.bsky.social ) looks at the ambitious 1970s plan for a crewed #Apollo flyby of #Venus. #SpaceHistory #Space www.sealionpress.co.uk/post/apollo-...
