A cartoon from the mid-1960s. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. talks with a reporter, surrounded by the aftermath and detritus of a riot saying "I plan to have another non-violent march tomorrow."
This is what they said about him then. This is what they say about us now. This is who they always have been.

Sec Noem called what happened today in Minneapolis "an act of domestic terrorism." She is entirely correct. Unaccountable, illegal ICE Agents are terrorists who today murdered an unarmed woman, and everyone up the chain of command incl Sec Noem is a terrorist ringleader.

Today once again proved that everyday citizens protesting their government are braver than the titans who own the largest media corporations, run the biggest law firms and lead the most powerful technology companies.

We're not going to change Disney or this new era of streaming age "content" capitalism where studios can put out dreck and just push it to streaming. But I hope we can change the fandom and make it far less cynical.

The Disney era has been mixed, but it gave us The Last Jedi, Rogue One, Andor, Rebels, The Mandalorian and more. The problem with Star Wars is less with the studio and more with a fandom where the loudest voices have terrible taste-- which get wandered to in things like Last Skywalker.

But this is what TheDiscourse™️ now is. Some schlub posts a ragebait take to get traffic to their site. People argue because social media and algorithms value controversy over thoughtfulness and truth. Everyone at the top makes money. All the rest of us are sad and angry. And the Fandom sucks for it.

a man with a beard is holding a light saber and looking at it .
Alt: Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi saying "Every word of what you just said was wrong."
Read a terrible take about Star Wars from some b list website. Designed to be ragebait from an author who thought it was a good idea to list he'd written for WeGotThisCovered. lol.
Yet another easy swipe at Disney and Kathleen Kennedy and this time with Dave Filoni catching strays. Guy has no idea.

Yes I know Rob Reiner was Jewish, but noting this in the same way we note so many of the great Christmas songs were penned by Jewish songwriters.

Paramount Skydance launches hostile bid for WBD after Netflix wins bidding war
Netflix won a bidding war for the Warner Bros. film studio and HBO Max streaming service, but it doesn't plan to buy WBD's TV networks.
This is just how we do mergers now.
"Paramount executives also plan to argue their deal will have a much shorter regulatory approval process given the company’s smaller size and friendly relationship with the Trump administration."

Living Daylights and On Her Majesty's Secret Service the two most underrated Bond movies.
I also love how bananas the final act goes (no spoilers if you're still watching but... wow.)

Agreed. And these practices burn out SMS as a mechanism for GOTV and persuasion, which is very very important in the current technological era.

NEW: Instead of focusing on what the Trump administration and red states are doing to undermine free and fair elections, here are seven changes every blue state could adopt right now, for virtually no cost or administrative burden. https://bit.ly/49PsQxM

Can the war on coal still be won?
Ten years ago, the U.S. was on track to phase out coal by 2030, thanks to the Sierra Club. Now Trump and AI are delaying the fuel’s decline.
The short summary is that Beyond Coal is still winning, and America is continuing to reduce its reliance...
While the larger Sierra Club has faced some rough internal and external criticism for straying from its core environmental mission, Beyond Coal is still quietly plugging away and kicking ass.

The description card on the Tim Miller Surrounded video labels him as a "liberal" despite him being a moderate conservative.
Me:
Don't watch the Tim Miller vs Surrounded video. The Tim Miller vs Surrounded Jubilee video can't hurt you.

I know this is an older and tired take, but we shouldn't take it as sheer coincidence that Trump's increased compliance with Putin's demands is happening as the same time as all of the Epstein stuff. Esp since those emails says Putin has stuff on Trump.
Just throwing that out there.

If they need a bailout, the answer is simple: NATIONALIZE IT. Run it as a public utility overseen by the FTC and FCC with a regulated rate of return, just like we did when we broke up the oil and electric trusts a century ago.
If they're going to take public money, then the public should own it.

I had misgivings on Shapiro prior. But I am basically a one issue voter and that issue is climate.
This is cowardice and stepping backwards in an era when we need all the forward momentum we can muster.

🤦🏻♀️ "It was a shocking reversal on a very significant climate policy,” said Jen Quinn, legislative and political director at the Pennsylvania chapter of the Sierra Club. “I don’t think there’s any other way to say it besides [we are] shocked and disappointed.”

Gotta hand it to Marjorie Taylor Greene. At every second she's been ahead of the curve:
Embrace QAnon
Embrace Nick Fuentes (remember when she lost her committee assignments over that?)
Leaving office in defeat and disgrace.
Look forward to lots of her colleagues joining her one year from now.
