Here's what psychedelics actually do to the brain Scientists looked at a wide range of brain scans to determine how consciousness gets so trippy on mind-altering drugs.

Large‑scale, human‑only neuroscience reveals the "neural fingerprint" of #psychedelics, mapping how these substances may disrupt rigid patterns of thought & promote flexibility by reshaping brain connectivity. 💡🧠

I find #psychedelicmedicine to be a fascinating area of research, which is why I continue to write about it for NatGeo and others. Here's my latest on research exploring the effects of a trip on the brain. (Not paywalled)

Spain Says the Sun Shields It From Rising Gas Costs. Is That True?

Stunningly bullshit framing on this NYT story that insists that somehow renewables are a dicy unpredictable thing and downplays that they're far, far cheaper most of the time by focusing on how they're not always. As is often the case with the NYT, comments smarter than article.

Bernie Sander’s 2028 litmus test would strangle America’s golden goose

Bernie Sander’s 2028 litmus test would strangle America’s golden goose

Surprise! The Jeff Bezos-owned Washington Post is against my 5% billionaire wealth tax. I wonder why?

If enacted, Bezos would owe $12 billion in taxes, and an average family of 4 would receive a $12,000 direct payment.

Poor Jeff would be left with just $224 billion to survive.

For an article, I'm looking to interview someone over 50 who in the past few years had a birthmark removed, improved a lisp or other lifelong speech impediment, got treated for social anxiety, or had a longtime deviated septum repaired. Thanks so much!

Agree. But palliative care is such a no-brainer to legally allow

These drugs could be a game changer for end-of-life care Certain psychoactive substances can improve the mental health of terminally ill cancer patients—but few patients can currently access them.

It's a shame patients in #palliativecare in the US can't access #psychedelics under Right to Try Laws, but that may soon change now that DEA is considering rescheduling, which would allow it to be used for this purpose. Lots of science supports this use! www.nationalgeographic.com/health/artic...

My latest for Prevention mag details fascinating research on cutting-edge #longevity treatments like rapamycin and others. But what struck me most is that the most evidence-based longevity actions remain the basics. Here's my sidebar on how to REALLY live longer and healthier #health #womenshealth

Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.

BASH: Footage shows him holding a cell phone, not a gun. Did he at any point pull out his weapon?

BOVINO: We do know that the suspect did bring a weapon, a loaded 9mm high capacity handgun, to a riot.

(That's a no!)

Myths about #renewableenergy are getting in the way of this #climatechange transition. My latest for NatGeo showcases common myths/lies about #EVs, #solar, #windpower and more. (Not paywalled!) P.S. I'm loving the Hyundai Ioniq 6 EV I bought last fall. Drives like a dream and cheap to power.

For a nat'l women's mag, I'm looking for women in US taking control of their #health by taking a drug their regular doc wouldn't necessarily prescribe--testosterone, rapamycin, metformin w/o diabetes, low-dose GLP1s, etc. Pseudonym ok. DM details. Thanks! #journorequest #mediarequest #womenshealth

LSD for anxiety and depression? Some early studies show promise. Researchers are investigating whether the drug could be used in mainstream medicine—with and without its hallucinatory effects.

Foremost among the #psychedelicmedicines being studied, #LSD has the biggest branding problem. But recent research points to the counterculture's drug's potentially strong benefits, with or without the high.
