I wrote about a few short story collections that do this a while back: electricliterature.com/7-short-stor...

Those reporters have done an amazing job reporting and investigating these incidents which have largely been ignored in the national news until now.
We have also been going back into our archives and updating them as more information about ICE-related deaths and injuries becomes available. Many of these incidents were not widely reported at the time, and we only know about them because of local news.
Many people are dying in ICE custody from the poor conditions, lack of access to medical care, and the brutality and incompetence of the guards. It's not surprising, but many of these facilities are operated by private companies. Don't look away.
My latest for @mcsweeneys.net. We are late with our January recap because it was a particularly devastating month. We catalogued 72 atrocities. So many people were harmed by ICE and not just the few highly publicized incidents you have heard about.

Early in Trump’s first term, we began cataloguing the head-spinning number of misdeeds coming from his administration. We have continued this chore during his second term. Here is what he and his admin did in January 2026.
Don't forget to hire me for your book design needs! I feel like I haven't added a new cover to my site in at least 4 months and I'd like that to change!
Oh and did I mention we published @kristenarnett.bsky.social’s debut way back when? So you’d be joining illustrious company!
…to mean formally experimental, literary/fabulist/speculative or other crosses, underrepresented stories/voices/perspectives, anything we haven’t seen before, books likely to be overlooked by mainstream publishing, etc etc etc. Marginalized writers are especially encouraged!
We are accepting submissions for one more month!
The most recent book from this list, Show Me Where the Hurt is by @haydenmcasey13.bsky.social, was just named a PEN/Bingham finalist! Could you be next?

December 28, 2025 – During a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at Mar-a-Lago, Trump said that he believed Russia and Ukraine were “maybe very close” to ending their nearly four-year war. #LestWeForgetTheHorrors
Great opportunity to join our brand new multi-genre reading team!
One month ago today: Newly released Epstein documents contained references to Trump, and two subpoenas were sent to Mar-a-Lago. In one email from 2020, a federal prosecutor wrote that Trump had flown on Epstein’s private jet “many more times than previously had been reported.”
That’s right folks… @mcsweeneys.net is doing far better reporting than most corporate news orgs. 🫶🏻
We've updated our running catalogue of Trump 2.0's cruelties, collusions, corruptions, and crimes. The total now stands at 637 since he returned to office.
@cliffmay.bsky.social and I catalogued 637 Trump administration atrocities in 2025 for @mcsweeneys.net. Here’s our December recap: www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/dec...
