I have a FYW student doing a great research project on ICE rhetoric, and specifically the impact of what authorities call immigrants. Does anyone have any sources (popular or academic) she should definitely check out? I told her I would query my networks! TIA! #rhetoric

Our essay, "From Survival to Self-Actualization: Disability Justice and Care Work in Reciprocal Mentorship," was so meaningful to write together, and I sincerely hope readers will feel empowered by our arguments and reflections!

I'm thrilled to share that my co-author, Dr. Sara Webb-Sunderhaus, and I were published in Rhetoric Review's Symposium on Intergenerational Graduate Mentorship!

My part of the presentation will focus on a trauma-informed research methodology that I developed, applied in community-engaged research, and taught in an undergraduate research methods class. If this sounds interesting to you, I would love to talk with you about it at the conference!

Friends, what are some of your favorite filmed plays / movie adaptions of a play? I'm especially interested in recent productions.

Not to brag, but I've become pretty good at grading papers with a computer balanced on one knee, due to Jester's insistence to always be purring in my lap.

I love all my classes, but my heart is especially full teaching Research Methods this semester. These are my first undergraduate sections of 100% English and English Education majors. It's so great teaching folks so passionate about reading, writing, language, art, social justice, and teaching. πŸ₯Ή

Writing studies folks, does anyone has composition, PTW, or TESOL scholarship they like that addresses late work / flexible due dates? I'm working on finding a balance between accountability, consistency, equity, and empathy.

Do the local stuff.

Do the organizing.

Do the community building.

Those are the most important things.

But also do not give up a single lever of power preemptively.

Do not surrender your power. ANY of it.

When creating PDFs, avoid using "Print to PDF." A screen reader user may still be able to access the text of PDFs created this way, but heading structure, alternative text, and any other tag structure will be lost. Using "Save As" or "Export" can preserve these tags.

Worth noting for folks just getting here -- you can actually turn off the ability of non-logged-in accounts to see your stuff here. Under settings -> moderation, you'll find:

A small watercolor painting of a horrified looking cartoon dumpling.

My phone just auto corrected "trauma dumping" to "trauma dumpling," so I painted this in case anyone would like a visual of my mental state.

How's everyone else doing?

Rhetoric and Writing friends, if you were to attend a feminist webinar the week after the November presidential election--a space to process, reflect, connect, and plan--who from our field would you love to hear speak?
