There was damn near zero hype for Doom ‘16 before launch. They mostly hyped the deathmatch which no one liked. They didn’t send out review copies to press. This reverence for classic Doom came in the wake of Doom ‘16 being a masterpiece. Before launch, it was just another FPS to them.

This makes a little more sense, it’s at least an artist interpretation of what the game actually looks like.

But that’s parodying Star Wars, right? And a lot of movies posters at the time. The Doom pose with both arms down and out to the side far less common

“Floater” is still an odd choice. I guess it makes sense if you’re already familiar with the game, but that cover art does not match that title.
