watching gameplay of games like this i can't tell to what extent the player has any agency

if i say which one i like I'll get accused of hating the other two when it's like man that's a whole other thought
“whether you agree with his approach or not…”
His approach is the whole problem! His approach is that he openly admitted years ago to making shit up!
if i went to uw madison i'd be pissed watching my degree's credibility vanish instantly like that
honestly it might be true of most gaming outlets, not just them
Kotaku's problem is one of physics; by nature of its existence it can't make an observation of a system without also influencing it
Articles like the one quoted are self-defeating
This is a fact they've always been carelessly ignorant of and in general just needlessly reckless with.
(not you the person i quoted originally, i agree with what i shared.)
it doesn't help that the sort of pattern-matching necessary to be on guard for red flags is an easy way to slippery-slope into just outright stereotypes
"we need to be more normal about 'x'" starts with you.
one thought I have is that this, idk, heightened state of alert and the way it has people anxiously anticipating how things might be perceived and by whom is exactly how you end up in that spiral of puritanical self-censorship (then demands for actual censorship) that keeps playing out online
it is (and should be!) possible for things to be made in earnest
it's inevitable people will be unacceptably weird with it
it used to mostly happen on sites people were scared to visit
now it happens on twitter
no one seems to have the rhetorical capacity to acknowledge the consequences of this
*incredibly* obvious with the whole nonsense around the smiley
yes it's a thing in circles no one wants to be in
but those circles aren't confined to a site with a rep that keeps people away anymore
it's possible for a company to know there *is* an association, but not *what* it is
the problem is twitter is version like, 4.0 of /b/ and society just isn't equipped for that bullshit to coexist so prominently with the mainstream
Could have been rooted out decades ago, and certainly a decade ago, but propaganda campaigns were created to protect the very people and institutions protecting Trump while pretending to oppose him. This was pointed out in real time, but instead of acting, liberals/Dems shot the messenger.
And it's not only Trump. That's what some fascism scholars won't admit. It's a transnational mafia syndicate tied to intelligence. It's well-documented over multiple decades. There was always proof, which is why I wrote on it over a decade ago. But it's not just Russia and GOP, also Dems and Israel.
putting in my order at dunkin like "yeah two shots of hazelnut is fine hey is Dawn available?"
the short version is my degree only ever got me in the door of places with no ladder so at no point between the late 00s and now have i ever made enough to afford the average rent where i live, and that's without including student loans
idc who's president I'm almost 40 going on 19
Well I have my own reasons as someone my age for feeling overwhelming resentment towards the economy but vague details are uselessly anecdotal, specific details are too personal for bsky, and the other guy asking this question is *radioactively* bad at online discourse
so, hard for me to pitch in
despite my complaining i end up reading a bunch of bsky discourse on this anyway
and...i know "was the biden economy good or not" gets ground into mulch around here, but i thought the whole thing was "if that's considered good you guys are nuts" not "it was so bad it was worse than trump"
"other people being mad at me for supporting a thing they don't like sucks"
either reflect on yourself or own it
hmmm
"tyrrany of virtue" how many different names are they going to invent for the same personal insecurity
this would also be top 5
if i had to rank my top 3 anime songs of all time this would go first
i like to do this thing where i enjoy and play games on their own merits in my own time lol

Truly a game of all time
art of a computer desktop screen, with the emulator Visual Boy Advance open in a window in the middle. it displays a completely black screen, apart from white text in the center that reads "END?". speech bubbles are coming from the window, saying "We sure had a lot of fun, didn't we?" "Bye." "I wish we could always be together." "*giggle* That was fun!" "Goodbye." "Thanks." "Thanks for everything." "Let's meet again sometime. We can meet as many times as we want." the desktop background is the only thing not drawn, a heavily edited photograph of a field of sunflowers. in the corner, the date reads april 25th, 2012. that was the day I finished mother 3 for the first time.
i love you, too
