I would watch a three-hour one act show about Jimmy Carter painting with an orangutan.
If we have meaningful judicial reform there is no barrier. If we don’t, there is.
Would probably have to be careful in drafting to avoid attainder issues.
Or Springfield.
Illinois law tolls the statute of limitations for corruption offenses for public officials, iirc, so maybe don’t even need that bit.
Yep. I’m ready for some long arm of justice.
The quotes in the pleading are much worse than the headline.
Hard to make it look like Watts’ hyperbole.
We need to build a persuasive theory about the invalidity of self-dealing pardons, and judicial reform to make that doctrine into law.
Because the bicentennial saved Ford, right?
Accountability requires prosecution. There are paths that can lead to credible prosecuting authorities outside of the county state's attorneys.
I have no idea if this bill is going anywhere, but I'd like to hope so.
There's a prohibition on sharing biometric data with federal agencies, including a private right of action and fee shift.

I assume he’s not running for president, but running to see which major candidate offers him the most to be an attack dog for hire.
But he’s probably too toxic for even that role.
Starting to wonder if the EO will be withdrawn as a last-minute attempt to moot the case.
This thread captures exactly what it feels like for us each to keep plugging along in our little corners of the law even as the meaningfulness of “the law” dissolves around us with all the dangers that entails.
That said, there’s no First Amendment exception for speech to minors, and a law can’t be saved by assuming most people will lie to avoid it.
The point of the law is to limit minors’ access to content. That’s an anti-constitutional impulse. If passed, it should, and I hope will, be struck down.
Fortunately for free speech, it looks like a simple pull-down menu on account setup indicating the user’s age is sufficient to comply with the statute. (In fact the statute might restrict companies from doing more to verify age).
There is no ID requirement.

Congratulations, Sam!
(Trying to bargain our own out here).
Every day I become more convinced that the anti-Newsom is going to win the nomination.
Nice to see a state constitution be given real meaning.
Mayor Brandon Johnson unveiled the Chicago snowplow named “Abolish ICE,” celebrating the success of the push to use the city’s annual contest to boost efforts to oppose President Donald Trump’s mass deportation effort.

Is the draft text of the legislation available anywhere?
As a practitioner, if I learned that a law review article that an opponent cited largely relied on AI, I'd make sure the court knew that too, to undermine opposing counsel's credibility.
And, I wouldn't cite an AI-drafted law review article in a brief for fear my opponent would do the same to me.
Is that, like, dynamic pricing converted from Bitcoin?
Wait a sec, I may have been on those field trips.
Pillinois/Pellinois merger.
I wonder if the more likely path is congressional acquiescence to some kind of future ICTUS.
At least that avoids the trap of ratification or no justice.
How is this not marked as an opinion piece?
