Meta pulls Facebook ads for social media addiction clients The Facebook owner recently lost a landmark social media addiction trial in California

Facebook apparently can't police for fraud, or child safety.

But it *can* find and block class action lawyer ads at will... 🤔 weird.

this month: Selce’s 6th Share Offer has reached its target! Selce Founder Speaks at Westminster on Fuel Poverty Alleviation Selce at Telegraph Hill Festival (now past) Campaign for Community Energy to Be Able to Sell Energy Directly to Local Homes and Businesses

“In my view, energy advisors who provide:

– in-person
– locally connected
– one-to-one energy advice

are essential to any fully marketised energy retail system

The Warm Home’s Plan envisages a national digital energy advice service.

In my opinion, this would not meet the needs of the most vulnerable consumers: only locally embedded community groups can do that.”

Government to lift paywall from large parts of the Land Registry Exclusive: finding out who owns land will become simpler under plans to make the best use of green spaces and hit net zero targets

VICTORY! Government to open up the Land Registry - bringing to an end a thousand years of secrecy shrouding who owns England.

I’ve been campaigning for this for ten years: the new Land Use Framework, published later today, makes it government policy. 1/

Thanks 😀 Opening up Land Registry would have loads of benefits - environmentally, to scrutinise who’s responsible for habitat destruction; to investigate money laundering; to better understand who benefits from agricultural subsidies & tax breaks; to visualise inequality; to help community buyouts

“The whole process starts with schools or other community organisations getting in touch with us to say they would like help... We do feasibility studies and technical surveys, looking at the business case, and once we know it is feasible we raise community shares.

“For LEDs there is a similar business model. We retrofit the lighting to access lower energy costs and charge an annual fee less than half of the cost of incandescent lighting.”

Our co-chair Kate was present at the launch of the Local Power Plan earlier this week - she said:

“The Local Power Plan recognises the multiple interconnected impacts that community energy projects have, and the potential for community wealth building that they offer. The £1bn investment demonstrates a commitment to supporting and growing this model, with a vision that ‘by 2030, every community in the UK will have the opportunity to own a local energy project’.

“The plan builds on the knowledge, experience and success of community energy groups across the UK and the ‘working with’ not ‘doing to’ approach is welcomed.

“The intention to listen to what community groups are saying, and to act as a connector between various stakeholders, is positive.

“In particular the recognition of Local Authorities as key partners in the Local Power Plan, with targeted support, has the potential to make a big difference at a practical level.“
