A State Department employee shared with PBS News an image from inside the department. The image includes a piece of paper taped to a mirror with the words, "Colleagues, if you remain: RESIST FASCISM. Remember the oath you vowed to uphold."

By Michael M. Grynbaum Michael Grynbaum reports on media and politics. April 22, 2025 Updated 1:26 p.m. ET CBS News entered a new period of turmoil on Tuesday after the executive producer of "60 Minutes," Bill Owens, said that he would resign from the long-running Sunday news program because he had lost his journalistic independence. In an extraordinary declaration, Mr. Owens β only the third person to run the program in its 57-year history - told his staff in a memo that "over the past months, it has become clear that I would not be allowed to run the show as I have always run it, to make independent decisions based on what was right for '60 Minutes, right for the audience." "So, having defended this show - and what we stand for - from every angle, over time with everything I could, I am stepping aside so the show can move forward," he wrote in the memo, which was obtained by The New York Times.
This is the right thing to do, and itβs a profound shame that he had to do it. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/22/b...
Calm down, folks, it was just an attempted assassination of a Jewish Democratic governor and his family on the first night of Passover, itβs not like somebody spray painted a dick on a Cybertruck.

I've joined up here to help get the word out about an important election in Wisconsin tomorrow, and other ways to defend our democracy against those who think votes can be bought.

If you're a white dude with some flexibility in your life, get a group of your like-minded bros together & go to these events to act as counterbalance to these "private security forces." Get in their way. Occupy space. Ask for their IDs. Outnumber them. Make their fascism difficult.
Todayβs show was my last at CNN. My closing message: Itβs never a good time to bow down to a tyrantβ¦ donβt give in to the lies. Donβt give in to fear. Hold on to the truthβ¦ and hope.

A bird's-eye view of a former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp showing a wide dirt pathway flanked by parallel rows of barbed-wire fences. Groups of visitors walk along the path, surrounded by the remnants of brick structures and barracks, now reduced to foundations. Green grass contrasts with the somber history of the site, as the path leads toward a guard tower in the distance.
Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.
This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.
Auschwitz took time.
whoa wow can't believe other countries have their own economic interests and tools of leverage to respond to threats, gosh if only this was somehow knowable via 5 seconds of brain activity
oh well let's plow ahead anyway, the median voter clearly said, "I've had it too good, I want to suffer"
