What I need to know is whether the original composers from the GENESIS are also back and - if so - what are their commission rates for making a little intro theme for a tiny baby streamer.

The concept I have in mind when I try to find composers is literally "Ecco-esque" and it's just impossible.

Artist did their homework, wow...

Haurchefant appeared in the 2014 Heavensturn quests, disguised by an Uma-kabuto, as the "Knight Exemplar".

Bonus Fun Fact: Unlike the MSQ, his "chivalrous perv" trope was not dialed back in the English version of these quests AT ALL, lol.

The preview snippet made me nervous it might be a little TOO cheesy. The intro made me nervous it might get a little TOO weird. But I think I was hearing omens of issues that never actually manifest in the complete song?

I... I think it might... fuckinnn' slap?

The Garland Tools database entry for the new FFXIV mount "Lowrider T1RANT", a classic lowrider automobile with a flame paint job. I need a mod that replaces the mount music with Eddie Guerrero's LIE, CHEAT & STEAL theme.

A screenshot of a Final Fantasy XIV Q&A question, reading:

Q16.
From time to time, you see some very unique skills/spells being cast by the enemies. I am curious if the enemy labels and gives a name to their own skills/spells, or if the Warrior of Light takes a look at the enemy and goes "Thats gotta be called that skill!"

A16.
Both are correct. There are some cases which the enemy possesses their own will and named their own cast, or a if it carries a program, or maybe some cases which an Eorzean named it such as "Morbol Breath". Warrior of Light being able to see the castbar on top of the enemy's head is thanks to the Echo. A normal person could not see such. Think of it like a "super gut sense" that top-tier MMA fighters might have?

I appreciate the end clarifying that it's more intuition of an enemy's intent (Fordola got a hyper version of this b/c/o Krile's additional ability to see aether traces), but I bet a lot of people are gonna read that super literally.

"The user interface is the Echo!" is undefeatable, lmao.

The pain of FINALLY finding a song with the vibe I want within the royalty / copyright free database...and it's Gen AI.

Even when I find people offering commissions in chillstep / synthchill / psywave / etc. the bio is like, "I will use AI to..."

I take it as an everyday truth that it's overwhelmingly difficult, if not impossible, tell a story without encoding prescriptionary and cautionary messages...

...but every year Matsuno says something that keeps me proud of all the "I will forgive him any lore quibble because he's worth it" jokes.

A statement by Yasumi Matsuno:

Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles

Nearly 30 years ago, the collapse of Japan's bubble economy engulfed the nation's financial institutions in mountains of bad debt, triggering a wave of corporate bankruptcies, a sudden and extreme rise in unemployment rates, and stagnation of Japanese society as a whole. It was an era when many were robbed of hope, when dreams were measured by their price tag.

Against this historical backdrop, I crafted a story. It was the story of Ramza, a young man who fought tirelessly against the entrenched social class system. It was the story of Delta, who sought to take advantage of this confusion and despair to advance his own social position. It was the story of a peculiar destiny, in which friendship and betrayal intertwine.

And now, in 2025 – a time when inequality and division are still deeply rooted in society – I offer this story once again.

The risks of doing the entire franchise in one crossover; fact-checking all of that would almost surely be a nightmare.

That said, "Zodiark is umbral" is wrong like 3 different ways. 😭 Definitely worse than the underling Ascian glyph with the overlord shoulderpad model.

Still great cards, tho!

A screenshot from back in Patch 2.3, where the meeting of the Ascian overlords is depicted. As in Patch 2.0, the scene implies that there are 14 red-masked overlords - one for each shard. Unlike in 2.0, throughout the scene, only Lahabrea and Elidibus have the appropriate shoulderpads.

I do see the overlord shoulderpads but between the 2.0/2.3 oddities† and the recent Thancred necklace incident I'm thinking maybe we just let that go…?

†2.0 shows 14 black-robed, shoulder-padded overlords before Eli arrives. 2.3 shows the 14 (inc. "dead" Emmerololth) PLUS Eli, but no pads on most.

Yoshitaka Amano making poster art for the Gex Trilogy was not on my bingo card but I gladly accept this boon.

Yeah; I have a lot of questions, starting with: "How remastered are we talking?" The reveal quote makes it sound like the goal is for Ecco + Tides to focus on catching up on basic stewardship and availability and then the new game can focus on being "modern". Curious if that impression is accurate.

I don't know how much attention anyone's paid to my on-again, off-again crowing about my nostalgia for Ecco the Dolphin, but my time has come.

[deadpan voice, narrowed eyes] I am flummoxed bearing witness to Final Fantasy XIV seasonal event key art featuring members of the Path of the Twelve and/or the Circle of Knowing who appeared in the critically unclaimed Final Fantasy XIV Version 1.0 and subsequent Seventh Umbral Rising patch series.

(Ty for the quote, tho; this is what I get for not being able to engage live PLLs, lol.)

YOUUU LISTEN: They are/were Scions. Of the Scions, they are among those known for being in 1.x ... "the 1.x Scions"!

Let an old man go senile with some dignity when confronted with Circle of Knowing members in seasonal event artwork in the Year of our Deryk 2025.

We've been joking about a Fifth Astral Era time travel expansion in #FFXIV for so long that either it will be funny that this has been waiting in the Shade's Triangle the entire time or funnier that this was our brain's hallucination of choice when arriving at the Island of Mirages / Crescent Isle.

Back when I started Dawntrail I thought the Tuliyollal day theme reminded me a lot of the cowboy bebop theme. The idea got parked in my brain for a while but I finally got around to making it.
