Going through some things scrolling on my phone and I came across a gem of a niche trek tweet from @clairewillett.bsky.social. 🤭

And I want to ask them about it because #StarfleetAcademy addresses it. But I don't want to spoil it in case they haven't watched Academy yet.

I’m so bummed about the cancellations - it’s not just so many shows I liked ending, it’s so many jobs lost for people who were excited to work on Star Trek and so many beloved characters brought back to us in new ways - and, also, we might ultimately prefer no Star Trek to the Ellisons’ Star Trek

I fear that soon we'll be in a time where there is no live action Trek at all. And that sucks for ALL Trekkies.

I watched #StarfleetAcademy. It was okay. I got the nostalgia I needed out of a particular episode. But ultimately I discovered it's not for me.

But that doesn't mean that I'm not saddened by its cancellation. Because there are those who genuinely enjoy it.

So I'm officially unemployed.

After being at or near the top of my industry for several years, I've burnt out.

I'm taking some time off to take care of myself. I'm unsure if I'll return to hospitality. But I do know I need rest.

Here's to the end of one era and the beginning of another.

The contrast between how Picard season 3 handles DS9 and Starfleet Academy handles DS9 shows which set of writers actually watched Star Trek and understood it and it wasn't the Picard writers.

I was also excited when *spoiler redacted* was revealed. Although I should have known immediately when they appeared on screen because of the way they *spoiler redacted*.

I'm going to go ahead and shout out the DS9 casting team because looking at Cirroc now, you really do get the sense that Jake is Benjamin's son. And it's not just the bald head and facial hair.

You can tell Avery had a PROFOUND effect on Cirroc growing up.

So Star Trek: Starfleet Academy finally addressed this. And while I did not get the answers I hoped for, my heart is full.

Currently facing a conundrum:
