It’s crazy to think how much the world has changed since then. This picture with Jill in front of her radio telescopes is one of my last pictures of life before the pandemic.

In March 2020, I spent several days filming with Jill at the Allen Telescope Array in Northern California. Six years ago today, I flew home to the east coast for day 1 of COVID quarantine, which we thought would last maybe a couple of weeks.

Have you ever seen the movie Contact? The movie was based on the novel by Carl Sagan and the character of Dr. Ellie Arroway (played by Jodie Foster) was based on Carl’s friend, the astronomer Jill Tartar. Jill is famous for her work searching for life beyond Earth with SETI.

Dear Women’s USA Olympic Hockey Team — First, congratulations! Second: I drove race cars for 19 yrs & the amount of misogynistic crap I put up with in the garage was insane. The U.S. Men’s Hockey Team has now shown you their true colors. Believe them. They’re not friends of your team or women in general.
