Your initial argument is somewhat valid, as Earth's capacity to harbour life will definitely be gone in 0.5-0.6 to 1 billion years, as the increase in luminosity and radiation still on the Sun's main sequence will cause all water on the planet to evaporate within this timeframe.

I’ve heard from three people, on different occasions, that they never read fiction, and at least two of those said it with pride. To me it felt like being in presence of an alien, hostile species.

Ça serait le comble de l’ironie si, à cause de cela, ce astéroïde parviendrait à perturber, à son tour e dans plusieurs d’années, l’orbite d’un autre et le renversait vers nous…

I took a picture instead of doing my job, which is belly rubs.

Photography. Black and white. A small boy, aged 3.5 years old approximately, looks at the camera with a crooked smile while sitting on a two-seater swing. He wears a zippered sweater with horizontal stripes.

Well, re-reading the original post from @greatdismal.bsky.social that originated this thread, I suppose the line is still available after all!

2/2 Afterwards, they partnered with @greatdismal.bsky.social to create a signature line of products, unfortunately no longer available, I’m afraid.

1/2 Not only they’re real, but Pattern Recognition spawned a real tulpa, as they first offered a black M-1 only after the book made the idea popular and they found out after a spike in requests for the previously unavailable model.
