Saruman isn't gonna like that

Here you go
it's national library week, please go ask your local public librarians for a book recommend; we need a break from the photocopier. #booksky
I heard this one is good from a couple people. What have been your favorite romance books?
Dressing nice and actually caring about fashion is another signal imo. Not really queer coded but also kind of is. I know few straight men in their 30s who give a damn about how they leave the house.
I think this speaks to the various signals people can give off as being safe vs unsafe. I have a similar experience in parenting spaces. When the moms see me actively and mindfully parenting by myself (being a dad, not a babysitter), their whole demeanor and how I'm received changes
Just started Two Can Play by our queen, Ali Hazelwood. I'm loving this bite-sized romance between two rival game developers so far.

I can't say why but The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer deals with a similar scenario involving a free produce stand. Someone steals THE ENTIRE STAND. Kimmerer makes the point that as community builders we cannot let 1 selfish person discourage us. The vast majority of people are not like this π
Today someone randomly left this box of books on my porch for my #LittleFreeLibrary. This donation was so kind and generous, especially after we got cleaned out by resellers last week ππ
being a type A person in a mental health crisis is so goofy because i was fully convinced that the new week + cleaning my floors would cure me
We're fine. A few friends lost windows, however.
That was some intense hail
- Show at least 6 examples of your best and most recent work
- Sketches and other process work encouraged
- Portfolios including artwork created with generative AI will not be considered
Pretty sure the Sages would have considered it a kind of demon and proposed very specific rituals for containing it, possibly using ashes of motherboard placenta.
It's just like Commandment #1 says: "I am the Lord thy God; you shall not impersonate My name, image, nor likeness via AI slop"

Just spotted this colorful friend!!
Look at the women at NASA.
They are the ones pushing the boundaries of science, solving problems most people canβt even understand, and carrying this country forward, while our politicians right now posture and stumble through talking points.
And they are doing it all with joy.π
Restocked my #LittleFreeLibrary after someone cleared out all of the adult buzz books, middle grade novels, hardback children's, and the entire cup of stickers I keep in it. It's wild that resellers still raid us despite stamping the edges of all the books. Enjoy selling damaged books, I guess? ππ
They sure do! I've seen other curators post video footage. It's a common problem with only a few half-baked solutions. I stamp my books to discourage it. I also don't let a few bad eggs ruin my community space. I have so many books stored in my basement. I just shrug it off and restock.
There's a teenager in my neighborhood who is really good at returning books when she's done. She's so sweet, and I appreciate her, so I actually go out of my way to curate some of the YA reads in it for her based on what I notice disappearing and coming back later in the week.
People who raid #LittleFreeLibraries are a certain kind of scum ππ
They very much take all of the nicer books out from all categories (adult, middle grade, and children's) that they think they can resell. This particular person not only took a bunch of nice, brand new books, they threw everything else chaotically back inside. I'll take a photo next time.
A photo from the Artemis mission after they returned to Earth. NASA astronaut Victor Glover, Artemis II pilot, left, and NASA astronaut Christina Koch, Artemis II mission specialist are seen sitting on a Navy MH-60 Seahawk from Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron. They are leaning against each other with their legs dangling off the side of the helicopter. Victor is grinning widely and giving the camera a thumbs up and Christina is leaned into him smiling with her mouth open and has her hand pressed against her face
I just realized NASA put up their photos from yesterday and I'm emotional all over again.
Moon Joy but also Earth Joy ππ

I YOLO'd mine and found a fiber line that I was unaware of. I fortunately didn't hit it but don't envy the poor bastard who will dig this post out when I'm gone.
You gonna YOLO the post hole or do a utility survey? It's supposed to be 3 ft deep.

A break in the space news to say this is why we love John Scalzi β€οΈ
1/ A lot has changed since my dad's reentry in 1962. Mission Control had no visual of reentry and never reestablished comms after blackout. Still, Carpenter reentered and splashed down safely, egressed thru the nose, alone, inflated and then plopped a life raft in the ocean near Puerto Rico.
All four out
