Would anyone be interested in a workshop (maybe at ABCT 2026?) with practical instruction on how to work "from in press to impact" (i.e., things you can do to help ensure that your science actually improves society)?

Check out this great new resource from the APA on working with the media. Scientists: your job isn't over when you get to "in press." We need to make sure the word gets out beyond academic journals about what we have learned to make an impact!

As things start to wind down for me at APA, I'm proud of the growth in the focus on science.....and also a growth in scientists at APA! In 2025, APA members include over 30,000 scientists who are actively contributing to the research literature. YAY!

Look at these cuts that will devastate med/behavioral health research, severely limit mental health services, & end educational programming.
YOU help STOP these cuts by flooding Congress using the link below.
This is for ANYONE to do, so please spread the word!!

PRINSTEIN TO LEAVE APA POST AT YEAR-END, RETURNING TO ACADEMIA

I have decided to leave APA at the end of my term. Ultimately, with my kids getting older, and me becoming progressively less cool by the minute, I chose to spend time with them while they would still allow it, and to return to UNC to preserve my tenure.

At SRCD pre conference. Where are all the international people??? So much news on cutting funding and how it indeed hurts science. But creating a climate that stifles scholarly discourse hurts science too!

The research grants canceled this week will stop treatments in rural communities, will stop the study of cures for conditions that affect all people, and will take away jobs from lower and middle class folks who live in “red” states. Period.

Just spent two days in London. Upon hearing my accent, 100% of people started talking about Trump and how the entire world has a negative impression of him and the US now. Never had this experience on any trip abroad before. Do folks in America know how poorly he is regarded across the globe?

Here’s what’s needed:
Describe how loss of NIH funds is not just affecting the campus, but how does it affect “main street” in your town/community. How does funding affect employment, health care, services, etc off campus? Tell your local and state leaders and/or tag them here!

Incorrect. A grant cannot be used to pay for utilities, hr resources, etc. And research cannot run without the lights on etc, Indirect costs are absolutely needed to allow research studies to happen.

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

Incorrect. Endowments are not able to be used for these costs. And the 50-60% is based on actual costs, often an underestimate of what it costs to maintain the buildings, people, and overhead costs needed to actually run research.
