I didn't know anything about the Artemis II astronauts a week ago and now I would fight my way into Hell for any of them.

Looking forward to ICE ending these long lines at TSA checkpoints the only way they know how -- dispersing tear gas and savagely assaulting anyone who's left

we are all somehow dreadfully cracked about the head, and sadly need mending.
What’s the matter with you? What’s the matter with you, shipmate?
If you want to go slightly insane about city bureaucracy this article is for you
I saw the opening maw of hell, With endless pains and sorrows there; Which none but they that feel can tell— Oh, I was plunging to despair.
No: never saw such a book; heard of it, though.
man is a money-making animal, which propensity too often interferes with his benevolence
I hear this but it is an ongoing issue with people needing people to win only FOR THE RIGHT REASONS. A messy win is a win. An accidental win is a win. I get wanting people to understand, uh, grid investment and aggregate demand before they want the right thing. But why?
It was after work and everyone in the line was tired and hungry, but we were all determined to stick it out because by golly we deserve better representation than we have in Texas.
Hour two and half: we met Turtleini the Turtle. His tank was a highlight of line waiting
In retrospect it is deeply funny that ten minutes into the three hour wait I talked the dude in front of me into guest speaking at my school and by hour two I was sharing the relationship between Macbeth and Lord of the Rings with my line cohort
kind of crazy that if you have enough money and don't like what you see in the media, you can just buy up every film studio, news station, and social media app and change it
Also, not for nothing, but I’m a Latina living in the latinx neighborhood they tried to gerrymander away. Backfired when we showed up, voted in Taylor Rehmet and flipped the district. So, yeah. Tarrant County votes now.
Listen. I was there because we need a new judge and new county commissioners. I’m all about local races where you can make a material change.
We talked to each other in the line a lot (we were together for hours!) and it was interesting to hear people’s motivations for being there. One guy said that the times call for all of us to aggressively do good and I like that
Hundreds of voters showed up at the wrong polling place after the Dallas County GOP forced both parties to abandon countywide vote centers in the March primary.

Joshua my voting line in Tarrant County was just shy of three hours. What a night
Yall. I voted in Fort Worth and it took just shy of three hours. For a primary!! By hour two, the R line was done, so for the last hour I waited it was just us Dems. Tiring but also convivial and nice being in community - the vibe in line was great
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."

There are no more adults in any of these rooms
though he can take in an undiscriminating sweep of things at one glance, it is quite impossible for him, attentively, and completely, to examine any two things—however large or however small—at one and the same instant of time
I continue to be fascinated by the phenomenon whereby an expert engages with any of the LLMs on their field of expertise and is instantly horrified by the wrong answers, and then goes on to use it for things they are not experts in as though it won’t be just as bad for those.

Delightful
This is such a well done piece that reports out, with hard data and interviews, something profound about what's gone wrong in this country.
