i aint gon lie, i don't even turn it off i just turn it till it sounds crunchy and then lower it somewhere between 20-50%. I miss with the bands but tbh i don't turn off the OTT bands, il turn of bands in Multiband Compressor tho

in fairness i do think even with good song writing if all the songs have the same sound design it's not going to do much for a genre that got too popular too quickly
