I would submit that a gerrymander by politicians saying fuck the voters and one by voters saying fuck the politicians are two wholly different animals

A Year After U.S.A.I.D.’s Death, Fired Workers Find Few Jobs and Much Loss

This is so sad. “Nights are the hardest.

“I can’t sleep because of our own situation,” Ms. Uccello, 49, said over coffee on a recent afternoon. “I can’t sleep because of what I know what’s happening around the world. I can’t sleep because my former colleagues and friends are also suffering.”

Re: nostalgia for VHS tapes and other analog media, I saw someone say like "a VHS tape never sold my information to a nazi" and yes that's true! But the reason it's true is actually because Congress passed a law in 1988 specifically making it illegal for video stores to sell your rental history

I’ve been a professor for 32 years. My 25-year old daughter just just started her career as a physician’s assistant and her salary is the same as mine:

Okay I can accept that AI can be a math genius, but that’s just one type of intelligence.

I don’t want glossy summaries I want details and mess and rumors and shade. I barely go on instagram anymore bc of the awful ai generated captions & stupid AI videos. We have to be better than this.

I mean, there are no consequences or accountability for AI. Also it cannot produce anything new, just uses what already exists albeit in a much faster & efficient way than a human. It cannot truly create & it is annoying bc the widespread use of AI is making everything deceptively mediocre. Mid.

Online. Rape. Networks.

So much recent news of people sexually harassing or abusing others. I was just trying to make some coffee & catch up in news! Don’t let these heinous happenings find you/catch you unawares. Take the time to digest & process the horrors or shield yourself.

This part. I think that AI can be a powerful tool if used wisely but I am also angry at how many billions of dollars have been spent on shitty AI rather than funding languishing schools in underserved areas and paying teachers more. Investing in people should be valued so much more.

Research does not support retention of information provided by querying AI. The studies show that just searching yourself online leads to better retention of the information.

Students need to learn how to search for information & not just default to AI. Its too east & we lose skill
