Year 10 pupils took part in a maths seminar with Dr Richard Elwes from the University of Leeds recently.
Pupils explored fascinating areas of maths, including optimisation problems, misleading data, and mechanics, and it was good to see so many contributing thoughtfully and asking great questions.

Our Year 2 pupils have been hard at work designing and creating their own structures in DT recently. Inspired by famous London skyscrapers, the children explored how to build tall, stable models and they rose to the challenge brilliantly!
A group of pupils visited Hull University to take part in a cyber security event. They took part in a range of activities, including workshops led by the army and aviation industry, as well as a Formula 1 simulator experience.
We are looking forward to our SOLD OUT Christmas Showcase tomorrow night! We're excited to see the range of performances including dancing, singing and drama. The show is from 6.30-8.00pm, with refreshments in the refectory from 6.00pm.
We welcomed DJ Niall Turner into school last week for a music workshop. He talked pupils through the equipment he uses and demonstrated how to mix tracks before giving them the chance to try it themselves. Pupils also learned about another possible career pathway in the music industry.
Year 1 recently visited Yorkshire Wildlife Park as part of their science topic, How are animals classified?
The children spent the day exploring the park and practised classifying animals by asking different questions. Seeing the polar bears and giraffes were particular highlights.
Thirty of our Year 9 pupils recently took part in the Ocean Health Challenge, designing and building brilliant prototype inventions to help tackle plastic pollution.
Their creativity and problem-solving were outstanding.

On Friday 4th July, we held our presentation afternoon to celebrate our pupils’ fantastic achievements over the past year. Children picked up special awards for their subjects, sports, and activities the wider community. Congratulations to all our award winners!
Well done to our Year 5 choir who sang at Leeds First Direct Bank Arena last Tuesday! 🎶
They performed 5 songs with choirs from across the city and took part in a fantastic final medley. A night to remember!

Despite the heatwave, they tackled a 30km hike from Burley in Wharfedale back to Carr Manor, carrying all their gear with great resilience and preparation. Congratulations 🎉
One World Day is a Carr Manor highlight, celebrating the diverse cultures in our community. Pupils wore traditional dress, shared food and drink, and created stalls to showcase their heritage. The day ended with fantastic performances enjoyed by the whole school.
Year 2 visited Scarborough to explore their geography Big Learning Question: Why do we love to be beside the seaside? They enjoyed the Sea Life Centre, saw otters and seals, and walked through a shark tunnel. Then they spent the afternoon on the beach in the sun. A fun and memorable day!
We held another through school Peace Day last week, this time focusing on plastic waste and recycling to celebrate World Environment Day. 🌿
The pupils enjoyed different lessons and activities focused on the subject, getting involved in litter picking and creative writing.
Well done to our pupils who took part in the Law Debating competition at Leeds Trinity University this week. They were showed fantastic communication skills when delivering their arguments. Although we missed out on the win by half a point, the pupils can be very proud of their achievement!
Year 11 pupils were stood down yesterday.
It was a special time where shirts were signed with positive messages and pupils looked through their yearbook at the poignant comment from their coach and photos from their time at school.
Today we welcomed Margaret and Pepe from @ascl-uk.bsky.social. They joined our Coaching circles, had a tour of the through school and heard and pupils and staff members during circle discussions.
The pupils spoke really well about our 4 values and how they're part of the day-to-day school life.
Well done to the pupil volunteers who ran a water station at the Leeds Marathon on Sunday.

We had a visit from some local Police Officers this morning, who spoke to Reception about their uniforms, the vehicles and animals used in the service, and the role they play in keeping us safe.
Reception especially enjoyed trying on parts of the uniform and asking lots of thoughtful questions!
Our Year 10 pupils had a fantastic time on their work experience at a range of organisations, including Hyde Park Book Club, primary schools, museums, vets, bakeries, Leeds Heritage Theatres, architects & more! We're so proud of the feedback saying how proactive and mature they were.
We are very excited to welcome some more goats to our Fairbank Farm 🐐
They arrived on Saturday and are settling in well with our other goats. The naming process will begin soon - we're looking forward to hearing what names our pupils come up with!
Today we held the 10th annual Carr Manor Dash! Pupils gave it their all as they raced around school in a thrilling House competition.
🟢 Congratulations to Tomlinson, who claimed victory in this year's dash! An amazing effort from every single runner.
