At Port of Hueneme, Schiff says tariffs are 'driving our economy into a ditch' - Ventura County Star
It was an honor to lead a discussion with the Senator at the Port Of Hueneme. The Port has thrived while reducing emissions over the last decade, and that has been largely due to our support from our Congresswoman and Senators.

True story. I was reading this link on Bluesky without my glasses and I originally thought this was a mildly comic Onion article until I realized it was actually a mildly comédie news article.

Grateful to have earned the endorsement of 32 of the current California Assemblymembers for my race for Lt Gov in 2026. 🙏

The feeling of satisfaction at someone else’s downfall, only to realize that their misfortune also harms you.
I think this is going to have to be 2025's word of the year.
Fantastic time participating in the Chinese New Year's parade. San Francisco's only night parade and the only night Chinese New Year's parade. Captain Kirk brought out the Batmobile and gave my wife a ride.

I can understand the idea of America first. What I can't understand is the idea of America only. American military might is expensive. Its soft power is much cheaper and more effective.
This is face you get when you haven't seen her for a week.
We shall immediately commence "project platypus".
Bananas. Literally about a quarter of all US bananas come from Columbia. This is just making the most eaten fruit in your breakfast more expensive.
This is a dangerous move by the Trump administration. Any slowdown of hiring in the parks and Forest Service will degrade our ability to repspond to national disasters. i know because I have worked with and trained these individuals for decades.

The SFLC “Shining Star” Award was presented to Ron Lewis, VP of IBEW Local 6. Starting as an apprentice, he leaned into challenges, embraced teamwork, and credited his wife of 30 years as the “quarterback” who enabled his success.

Fires across LA area have killed at least 28 ppl, destroyed more than 15K structures and charred some 63/sq mi since Jan 7. Gail Cashburn’s house in Altadena burned completely to the ground but her Jazz bar, located @ 1881 E Washington Blvd, Pasadena has been an oasis for her homeless neighbors.

All hail the power of the Glockenspiel!
I'm in Oxnard ands the winds are blowing. Ugh.
How do rebuild these homes without immigrant labor?
I almost got stuck on a broken escalator for hours.
The fact is that the density of homes in the urban interface is the majority of the problem. And older buildings and building standards didn't require fire resistant construction as they do now. This Fire was 100 years in the making.
More water would've made little difference. We would have to rebuild all of the municipal waterlines to accommodate that additional fire flow. Additional storage would've ran out quickly. But that doesn't really change much because we don't put firefighters in between five or six burning buildings.
