ALSO not helping matters: she has been conflated & syncretized with SO many other deities, WHICH makes it even more impossible to find good information. just a small selection I've found:

- Ichikishima-hime

- Hashi-hime
(this is not at all exhaustive. not even close.)

and yet, no mention of the link btwn Mizuhanome + Seoritsuhime.

it's... kinda funny tho. she's often referred to as a "sealed Goddess" in Japanese, as the legends around her are quite sparse. there's an ENTIRE can of worms behind that; there's claims she was wiped from the Kojiki & Nihon Shoki.

interesting tidbit I've found: she's believed to be the inspiration for Your Name (2016). Mitsuha's name was inspired by water goddess Mizuhanome, which may be another name of Seoritsu-hime. INSANE that this is nowhere on the EN web except for a brief mention in Mizuhanome's wiki article -

& it is incredibly frustrating because whenever I look at the Japanese side of the web, there is an ENTIRE rabbit hole of things about Seoritsu-hime going on. like, girlie's having a MAJOR resurgence in the public consciousness? but NOBODY on the EN web is saying anything

as mentioned not too long ago under my Maristella art, I've felt a particular connection to Seoritsu-hime and have been trying to research more about her

problem is... there is almost NOOOOTHING on the English web about her (except for a few scattered art pieces + manga appearances???)
