I enjoyed looking back on the goals, the games, the saves - and the quotes - from a great Premier Division season

Preview: Welsh hunger makes them a dangerous animal The Republic of Ireland wade into the familiar waters of the play-offs in Cardiff tonight as they square up to a dangerous, highly motivated Wales side that knows the inside out.

I'm in Cardiff for the first leg of the Euro 2025 playoff. High stakes for Ireland in a couple of different ways. Expecting a scrappy, physical international derby.

Feels like an extension of the FAI Cup final becoming an 'event' rather just a game between the two clubs involved. Brilliant way to start the season.

'We're not hiding' - Hallgrimsson to take winter stock Heimir Hallgrimsson will put his feet up over Christmas and revisit the notes he's been jotting down since September as he plots a path towards League B safety and World Cup qualification.

Heimir Hallgrimsson is an amiable presence in the Irish dugout. He has plenty to think about over Christmas as he looks to have a genuine crack at WC qualification.

Obviously this initially looks very Partridge but there's a really lovely story behind it. Chiles and Payne struck up a friendship over their mutual love of West Brom. Chiles ensured Payne could attend games discreetly, and he sat with Payne's family at games. A nice show of football's community.
