Biased, but a great start would be fully funding community college in PA. All community colleges in PA were founded with a promise of 1/3, 1/3, 1/3–state, local, tuition. The state hasn’t kept its deal since at least 1968?
Higher education is a public good. We should support and celebrate it.

Tesla. Disney. CVS Health. United Airlines. PayPal. Billions in profits. $0 in federal corporate income taxes.
That money should be funding schools, healthcare, and public services.
This is why people are mad as hell.
Yes, AND we need Harrisburg to invest in PA’s community colleges!
AFSCME members who make Illinois State University happen are on day nine of their strike for fair pay.
🗳 Good news! Mail-in ballots should be arriving in mailboxes soon ahead of the May 19 primary election.

Minnesota’s Boundary Waters comprise over a million acres of untouched forest and thousands of lakes and streams, accessible largely by canoe. On Thursday, Senate Republicans voted 50-49 to open the area up to mining.

Join us on Thursday, April 9th at 1pm outside of the Bonnell building of CCP’s main campus. We will celebrate the one year anniversary of our recent contracts and highlighting the unmet agreements Philly’s college still needs to make good on.

Anyone telling you NOT to call your member of congress today is an op or under the influence of an op
There is literally no reason not to
Telling people not to call is not a radical position
NEW VIDEO: this appears to be the footage from the woman in the pink coat.
His name was Alex Pretti, he was 37. He was recording ICE, directing traffic, and helping up someone agents had shoved to the ground. They murdered him for it.
Showing cross-racial solidarity is a potential death sentence. There are few things white supremacists hate more.

Minnesota shifting narrative from "rabble rousing protesters" vs "law enforcement" to "people of conscience" vs "evil regime." This is essential to defeating authoritarianism - exposing who, what & why they are by demonstrating who, what & why we are.
And MAGA knows it.

I'm not one for false optimism. But what I witnessed today in Minneapolis was tremendous, both in scale and exuberance. It was a stunning answer to the federal assault on Minnesota, a show of solidarity that gives us something to hold on to during times that are unforgiving.
A display at Independence Mall.
The slavery displays at the President's House on Independence Mall have been removed, sparking outrage locally. It comes after President Trump ordered last year for any displays at National Parks that disparage the U.S. to be reviewed and potentially removed. spr.ly/63322C7R8j

As tomorrow's Minnesota-wide shutdown gathers momentum, here are some of the less visible ways workers and unions are helping each other survive to fight another day, by delivering food to workers hiding in their homes with the lights off. My report from Minneapolis.
A major coalition is launching a general strike in Minnesota tomorrow, aimed at pushing out ICE.
It includes:
-Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1005
-The MN AFL-CIO
-SEIU Local 26
-UNITE HERE Local 17
-CWA Local 7250
-Saint Paul and Minneapolis Federations of Educators
-Faith leaders
And more. 🧵
What an unthinkable horror to see children in ICE's custody. In what possible way does picking up preschoolers off the street make our communities safer?

Solidarity with the unions, faith organizations, community groups, and people of Minnesota who are participating in a general strike in protest of ICE attacks on their families and neighbors.
I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.
Resurfacing two excellent pieces on ICE/BP's labor unions that tease out the relationship between immigration enforcement, incipient fascism, and labor rights.
