The project is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and its German counterpart, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.
The exhibition is the product of the Anglo-German research project on “Canetti and the British in a European Context: Exile, Reception, Appropriation” and was introduced by Prof Julian Preece (Swansea), UK lead researcher on the project.

Colleagues at Newcastle University congregated this week to toast the opening of the “Elias Canetti. A Jewish Émigré in Britain: People, Places, Impressions 1939-1988” exhibition. The exhibition will remain on show in the Old Library Building throughout March.
