The funny thing about this is it all started bc the GOP thought they could save the House and do so in a way without any repercussions and then the Libs knew ball and actually did the thing they couldn’t match.

Federal Grand Jury Charges Southern Poverty Law Center for Wire Fraud, False Statements, and Conspiracy to Commit Money Laundering A Grand Jury in Montgomery, Alabama, today returned an indictment charging the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) with 11 counts of wire fraud, false statements to a federally insured bank, and conspi...

1. The central claim in the indictment of SPLC is a lie.

The DOJ/FBI accuse SPLC of lying to donors about seeking to “dismantle” extremist groups while secretly funding them. But the funds were used to infiltrate & help law enforcement dismantle these groups. Kash Patel knows this is the truth…

as it becomes clear that Yes has won in VA and gerrymandering will pass, a message to Republican voters:

you brought this on yourselves

you convinced the most fairness-obsessed, That Wouldn’t Be Fair-minded voters in the country to affirmatively vote to put you in the dumpster

you earned this

Pardon the Klan members at J6. Prosecute the SPLC. It's no secret who this administration supports.

if there is a path to either national nonpartisan redistricting or proportional representation, it is going to go through one party or another. but the first step toward it actually happening is for that party to win power, and you go to war with the system you have, not the one you want.

the shift to a winner-take-all distribution of electoral votes? a partisan project. the development of the mass political party? a partisan project. antislavery and reconstruction? a partisan project. even direct election of senators comes out of populist agitation in the late 19th century.

but the fact of the matter is that with the notable exception *of* the mid to late 20th century, every major change in our political system and government has been a partisan or ideological political project.

one of the ways the mid to late 20th century political world has distorted the historical memories of even sophisticated observers is in the idea that you can achieve major transformations of american political life through something like bipartisan consensus

Seizing old ballots on flimsy warrants is a way to do performative pandering to the crazies (incl. Trump). There are little to no legal protections for old ballots, which are usually destroyed fairly soon anyway. Finding a rubber-stamp judge is easy. It's very unlike the situation w/ live ballots.

My take is that we live in a society and we should methodically eliminate every vaccine exemption.

The thing is you have a Secretary of Defense who quite literally does not think germs are real, he explicitly rejects germ theory

The question to ask isn't "why did pete do (x)," it's "why did roger wicker vote to confirm a guy who literally doesn't think germs are real"

Folks, this is what a GWB second term cratering looks like, just earlier in the term. At ~35% approval, almost everything is on the table.

if you respond like this to people 6 years later expressing that the social isolation of peak Covid was hard for them, congratulations: you are a huge asshole

According to reports, Corey Lewandowski took kickbacks to secure DHS contracts for paying contractors.

Fired Secretary Kristi Noem handed $220M in taxpayer funds to her allies for self-promotion. This is blatant corruption.

These partners in crime need to be fully investigated.

'Bell removed Romeo and Juliet from his syllabus because “in Act III, Romeo and Juliet have sex, and that falls under this very broadly defined sexuality [topics ban].” He also didn’t teach about Joan of Arc this semester.'

What an actual lack of freedom of speech looks like in universities. 3/3

Jacob 'Bell, who teaches medieval history, is headed to the City University of New York, where he will “be teaching the exact same thing, but unredacted.” In order to keep his spring classes from getting held up in an opaque, monthslong course-review process' 2/3

It’s very simple. The Republican Party doesn’t believe in academic freedom because they don’t believe in human freedom.

having molly shah leave this place to go /back to x/ does not speak well to this site's long term prospects

having molly shah leave this place to go /back to x/ does not speak well to this site's long term prospects

This is a hilarious take, because she never stopped posting on X The Everything App, she just kept the grifting to this site and the retweeting posts complaining about Germany's antisemitism laws violating free speech to the Nazi site.

I’m sure this sort of thing sounds really hard (the OP) when you’re afraid of answering the phone, but the truth of the matter is it is just pathetic.

Cenk’s smart enough to know that “Patriots versus Israelis” is just Die Volk versus Die Juden rephrased and that makes doing it unforgivable. It’s a play for the Fuentes set, and that he feels the need to go after that group to make money and gain followers should tell you something’s rotten.

"No, no, you guys don't get it! Vance is smarter than Trump, and more able to seem normal. He's Peter Thiel's handpicked succesor! He's gonna be worse than Trump and more effective at actually establishing fascism and charming powerful people and getting institutional buy in!"
