The regime is attempting to criminalize the infiltration of extremist groups, just as it has perpetually tried to frame antifascist resistance as equivalent to fascism. The charges are primarily a tactic to try to shift the cultural perception of what counts as extremist activity.

this is both unbelievable and exciting AND we're still looking for folks to join us as paid subscribers so we can do all the cool -- and completely unhinged -- shit we've got planned!

All, a dear friend just lost her daughter after weeks of hospitalization & complications. Since this happened out of town, my friend has incurred a ton of unexpected expenses, so we've started a GoFundMe to help her out.
If you can, please donate, or at least, please share.
I'm down to start calling inmates "key stakeholders in the carceral system." Odd how no one thinks that type of language is ludicrous, even when it's obscuring and unclear, when it's used in business contexts and not 'social justice contexts that make me uncomfortable'
Happy birthday to everyone's main man Tim Curry! I was reading this gem *yesterday*! www.vice.com/en/article/q...
yes! i NEVER see it outside of fandom and maybe an occasional reddit comment, which makes me think Noah Wyle knows more about the internet than he's hinting
Very happy for all the people discovering the phrase "competence porn" via Noah Wyle's GQ article! My point below intensifies.
Time flies! There are 6 days left to hit 50% of our goal by the halfway point of our subscriber drive. That means we need 117 readers to become annual paid subscribers by April 21. Help us stay on track to launch Ravenous.
I cannot understand why so many creators who are trying to build audiences, grow networks, and generally be visible on the internet don't actually include a contact email anywhere on any of their platforms. Social DMs aren't optimal for business—or for hearing from ppl who might be able to help you!
Just noting that the wild popularity of The Pitt, Project Hail Mary, and Artemis 2 are all signs of a culture that's overwhelmed by anti-science quackery, ignorant influencers, AI-pilled slop, and decreasing literacy, clearly starving for examples of expertise, knowledge, and expert leadership.

oh look, time for me to depart these shores, travel into the swamplands, and burrow into the knotted hollow of a tree

Let’s keep showing up for each other.
ah, fair enough, they were def of the 2010s. possibly commenter up there is conflating them with mid-00s foodie vloggers, it would be understandable
You said "2010s i hope" which implies that YouTube didn't exist until the 2010s. It was a major part of internet culture from 2005 onward. I'm just making sure that half-decade doesn't get left out.
youtube has been around since 2005 my friend
Two orange and white or creamsicle and white cats, clearly young but nearly full size, sit touching each other on the blue blanket covering a sofa, with blankets, a pillow, and a portable power bank sitting next to them.
New GFM update today, with progress toward the 8K goal. So close! New kitten pics too! Here's one from last week, there are more in the update! It's so wonderful to have cats who are siblings and get along well. Please share widely!

Infographic titled "Pop culture dominates trans coverage" highlights that "Pop culture & creativity" was the leading article theme 4 out of 5 years, making up about 25% of coverage. Despite more government-related events, pop culture receives more media attention, indicating increased trans visibility and vulnerability. Lists themes like trans identity, violence, public space, healthcare, transnationality, and resilience.
Text-heavy image discussing overlooked trans stories. Headlines highlight lack of coverage on trans resilience, resistance, and solutions. Keywords like "resisting," "care," "community," "hope," and "solidarity" are emphasized in colorful fonts. The image urges more representation of trans realities in media.
What gets covered:
• Pop culture & creativity dominates headlines 🎬
• Policy coverage gets less attention ⚖️
• Resilience & solutions are underrepresented 💪🏾
What gets amplified — and what doesn’t — shapes understanding and real lives.

oh and on this trans day of visibility, please be aware that TN republicans are trying to force medical workers to give the patient data of trans people to lawmakers. The lawmakers *say* the data will be kept anonymous but absolutely no one believes that. wpln.org/post/bill-to...
I just enjoy Elizabeth Sandifer's brain so much, that's all
Shame them mercilessly and loudly, but also acknowledge that millions of us were enormous lifelong fans who also walked away the moment Rowling started posting her transphobia on main. We're not at fault for having once loved the series, and when you mock everyone who loved it you miss the point.
I need the Harry Potter rants to come with 100% less fan-shaming adults who loved the series. It is absolute bullshit to shame someone for loving children's fantasy, one of the most popular literary genres in existence.
Obvs shame them for still clinging to it now. Not for having ever loved it.
it was clear the first time! impressed with the puns from the people who followed the instructions.
my point is that he didn't think he was a threat, and you might have seen him as socially awkward, but he clearly was a threat *to me* in that moment, whether or not he meant to be. most of the time if a stranger knocks on your window, or on your door in many contexts, your fear is all that matters.
I had a semi-truck run me off the road by honking his horn at me and flashing his lights to make me think I was experiencing some sort of vehicle emergency. When I finally pulled over, terrified/confused, driver came over, knocked on my window, and said he just wanted to tell me I had a nice smile.
